Q: How do I make the lip gloss come out of the stick so I can actually use it? I tried to turn the button thing and push it but nothing happened

You just push the button, you don't need a lot to come out. Only a very small amount should be out of the stick. It takes a few clicks initially to get it to come out a bit.

Q: If you push too much product out of the tube, how do you retract it back into the tube?

You can't. Which is why you only push a little out, just like any other push lipstick.
