Easy and reliable way to expand Thread network and add smart control
I am in the process of replacing a few of these with the hardwired Eve outlets, not because I don't like them but just for the sake of a cleaner look in spots where I always have something plugged in that requires smart controls/automations. That being said, I still keep a couple of these setup at all times to help expand my Thread network and keep the mesh strong in places that I don't have other mains-connected full Thread devices and it's convenient to be able to move them around when my needs change. I can't think of a time when any of them has gone "no response" in HomeKit and I appreciate that they offer energy reporting in the Eve app. After having tried a couple other brands on various communication protocols, I HIGHLY recommend these Eve plugs over all else. Nothing has come close to ease of use, reliability, and available features.

Great for what it's worth!
I bought this smart plug to turn my already existing desk light into a smart one that can be controlled with the Apple Home app, HomeKit automations, and Siri. Overall, it has been very reliable as a smart plug. The setup was rather simple, as I scanned the plug into the Apple Home app with the QR code provided in the package and it was just a "matter" (haha) of choosing what room it would be in and what the plug would be displayed as in the app (mine as a light). Speaking of matter, Matter support is great as it responds immediately through the toggle in the Apple Home app or a Siri request through a HomePod Mini, making it infinitely better than the dumb switch my desk light used to be. Also if you use the Eve app, you can get a detailed view of how much energy your using and how much money you'd be saving each year with the plug (I don't really pay attention to those details, but if you're into that, then that's a plus). In conclusion, the Eve smart plug is a great addition or start to any smart home with its incredible ease of use, compatibility with Matter support, and solid build quality.

More Reliable Than WiFi Based Product
The Eve Energy smart plug was easy to install and has worked flawlessly in its primary function to date (at about two months at this time). Where my previous WiFi based solution required occasional unplugging and re-plugging to work, this Matter based smart plug has been 100% reliable and more responsive. Delays between issuing voice commands and having my orders carried out are noticeably shorter. The only failure I've observed to date is that the energy usage does not display in the phone app. To date, I have entered the electricity cost for my location but I haven't tried anything else to correct that shortcoming. It's not that important to me, but I was disappointed that it didn't work. There are suggestions online for approaches to correct that issue. I just haven't tried them. If you place more priority in knowing how much you're paying for the electricity flowing through your smart plug, you may want to consider how much effort you're willing to expend to gain that functionality if it doesn't work for you out of the box. As for me, I'm thrilled to have a smart plug that just works for its primary function of turning appliances and lamps on and off when told to do so.

Meh….
I have written several Eve smart home product reviews. I keep asking myself why I keep buying their smart home products as they are in my opinion some of the most overpriced and weakest performing products available on the market. They fall on the “works specifically with Apple Home” but this line is starting to become stale as a lot of other companies do as well and with Matter becoming more established Eve will soon have to come up with other marketing or dare I say; better products. I own smart plugs from companies like Aqara, Hue, and even the more outdated and less supported iHome. Eve’s smart plug under performs against all of these. Again, as I have stated in most of their products, Bluetooth is the problem with every one of them. It’s not reliable unless your Bluetooth device is around. As such, one will notice automations not occurring when they should. Eve offers a schedule ability for the plug in the app, but why buy a smart plug if you are going to use this feature when you can get a non-smart timer plug for way cheaper which have been around for decades now. What about the energy tracking? Other smart plugs do this but way better. First, the tracking is pointless especially when the information has no base comparison in the app. Also, I find all trackers on Eve devices to be inaccurate most of the time also, because the information is sent via Bluetooth to one’s wireless device you will open the app to only find gaps in the span of days which no tracking could take place. It’s a worthless gimmick in my opinion. Get an Aqara plug which has tracking that makes sense with no dropping of information during tracking. Yes, you will need a hub for the Aqara plug, but for the price of one Eve plug you can get an Aqara plug and hub for nearly the same. IHome plugs don’t need hubs and connect directly to WiFi. They work directly with Apple home and are very reliable. The only problem with iHome is availability and support which is why i can’t fully recommend them. Also, they don’t have energy tracking. Hue has a solid option that is reliable and cheap but only if you are invested in the Hue ecosystem as everything else Hue related is overpriced. So there you have it, go look to other sources. You will be disappointed with this product.
