AC Infinity 8” Backdraft Damper, One-Way Airflow Ducting Insert with Spring-Loaded Folding Blades for 8” Ducting in Range Hoods and Bathrooms Fans

This is not the first AC Infinity product I've bought. I already had an AC Infinity humidity sensing fan with a quality level that impressed me, so I decided this was the best brand when I needed a back draft baffle for my 8 inch kitchen fan exhaust. Similar build quality. You'd think this was a turbine engine part.

We love this fan, it works great and is a very efficient product. Customer service is also very good to deal with as we had a question for them.

High quality damper used as an intake gate. Installed nicely into a grow tent baffle without needing any other support.

Incredibly week butterfly flap springs. Will only close in oriented horizontally, any gravity on the flaps will hold them open. Maybe if you held it upside down...?The housing itself is very rugged so that's nice.

Item arrived double packaged and no damage on the box, however flaps where rubbing against outside walls.I was considering returning it but it is a hustle and I would have to pay out of pocket for shipping with possibility of seller to reimburse... seems inconvenient and risky.So I decided to try to sand off portions of flaps to make it close. $80 - and I have to sand it - not good.But it gets worse: this is not 'inside the duct' damper - this actually needs piece of duct to be cut out and then ends of this dumper inserted into the opening to replace the cut out piece.Originally I planned to just stick this into existing duct going from range hood to the street through the wall. But since this doesn't fit inside the duct I had to poll out duct work form outside the house and cut it - and then assemble it back - not what I expected.Also to be noted: there are no gaskets on the flaps - just metal-to-metal - which will not seal very well.I ended up installing this, but I have a feeling it will not last long - since there are no gaskets and since flaps are very close to the walls it will get stuck with even small amounts of kitchen grease coming though vent hood.Overall poor quality of the product, poor product description and poor customer experience.
