How to brush new life into that old, shabby bureau...or anything else!
I bought this for my lady and then immediately had doubts about the suitability of the book as a birthday gift. "Isn't it a bit boring?"' I asked myself. I needn't have worried. She has read the ink off the pages...at least three times and now, armed with her tins of wax and chalk, she is transforming any piece of furniture she can lay her tiny hand upon. This is good stuff, with tips to circumnavigate practical challenges, assistance with all manner of techniques and lots of step-by-step diagrams. The book assumes that the reader shall be starting off with a limited amount of prior knowledge and so the volume is suitable for the either the complete novice or professionals who wish to transform tired, battered or nondescript household fittings. Straightforward, highly readable, extremely informative, a truly brilliant, engrossing book that can be read simply for pleasure, it is so attractively laid-out and well-written.!

An excellent guide to the world of Annie Sloan paint. Full of ideas for the home and some too for the garden. If you have old, cherished or just plain serviceable pieces of furniture that need a new lease of life this book will help you... all you will need to accompany the book is Annie Sloan paint, which is a real joy to work with as it's so easy to apply - with minimum fuss. Great fun if you are creative and just plain practical if your not.

Fulfilled its purpose
I bought this book to find out more about the paint and various technicques as it seemed like the best paint for the job. I knew what I was getting before I bought it and knew I didn't like everything in it particularly the spotty item on the front of the book, which seems very childlike. The book was really helpful, so that I knew a bit about the paint and its effects before starting to use it. I also checked out Annie Sloan's website though. I was after something slightly different to anything in the the book but the book gave me the basic ideas and also what I didn't want. I have painted my welsh dresser now and it is exactly how I wanted it. I love the colours and I also have mixed them a little to achieve exactly what I had in mind. I'm about to start on a nest of tables now and I do like some of the other ideas for future projects.

Upcyclers must-have book
This book is well worth having around the home. You can easily change and revamp tired old furniture items to adorn your home-or make them over and sell them on, as painted furniture is BIG at the moment.I would recommend this to anyone who has the time to give it a go. Beautifully illustrated and easy to follow, this book inspires you to have a go. Perfect!

Ideas to inspire
If you like up-cycling old furniture, picture frames, mirrors etc. this book is a must. Apart from all sorts of ideas. it contains step by step instructions and lots of pictures to guide you through the process. The projects are based upon the use of Annie Sloan paint, which is wonderful stuff. I have already updated two bedside tables and some garden furniture. They look great, and now I keep looking around for other things to paint!

Some good effects, but only covers half the process (and avoids the preparation)
The book has some lovely and interesting and inspirational effects techniques. There is, however, next to nothing about how to prepare furniture in the first place, such as stripping old varnishes, sanding down etc. and so it feels like it only does half the process. If I was to buy a second hand piece of furniture I'd most likely have to you-tube instructions or find another book to get me to the stage where I was ready to pick up this one. Also, she concentrates on using her own range of furniture paints and varnishes/waxes and gives very little direction as to what to look for and what else would be suitable if you were to use other products.I will definitely try some of the suggestions in the book, and it does have some inspirational ideas, but it is not a one-stop-information-shop which some total beginners would need.

it is what it says on the tin
Lovely book to have on your bookshelf for reference although, i must admit to reading from start to finish when i first got it. 50 step by step by ideas of how to make over your home for next to nothing. Ideas accompanied by beautiful pictures and lots of helpful tips. So pleased i got this book as i am beginning to love chalk paint. It is what it says on the tin and so is this book.

Upcycling
I thought this was fabulous. I did three of the suggested projects and transfirmed my fading furniture at the same time preventing things going to landfill. Such easy projects and lovely photos
