Choose This One!
I have purchased a few of these PCIe SATA cards. This card is functionally no different than any other that I have used. It comes packaged with several extras though, that make this a nice buying experience.Everything you could need to connect your drives is included. There are straight and 90 degree SATA cables, standard and short I/O plate mounts, and screws included.I'm using this card to pass a group of four (so far) 14TB drives through from a Proxmox host to a TrueNAS VM. Installation and configuration was smooth. Pass through the single card and all attached drives show up in the VM as bare metal. Transfer speeds are great.

Freezes computer
I bought this over a year ago for my Linux server. After installing it my server started freezing randomly. It would become completely unresponsive and I would always need to power cycle it to restart it. At first it happened fairly rarely, about once a month. Logs didn't catch the problem, and neither did the monitoring I started doing. Since it is just a home lab server I let this go on for a long time. A few months ago the freezes started happening more frequently, which in retrospect I know is because the server started processing more disk I/O. The frequency of the problem increased rapidly as I/O on the server increased, to the point where it was freezing once or twice per day. Finally after a restart I noticed journald caught some BTRFS journal errors, so I started to suspect this card and ordered one from a different brand to replace it. Sure enough, after replacing the card the problem went away completely. I highly recommend you steer clear of this one, especially if you use Linux

Works in Ubuntu 20.04
It worked for me in Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel 5.4.0-74-generic) without any driver install. I installed the card with six drives, and all six were there for mounting when it booted.lspci calls the card "IDE interface: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1061 SATA IDE Controller (rev 02)" and dmesg shows it as two ata port multipliers with 5 ports each.

Would not use with more than 4 drives
Used for my unraid server and it worked fine for a couple of months with 4 drives. After adding 2 more drives it now crashes every night and I dont think this card was meant for that many drives.

See below
I am giving 4 stars although I was never able to get it to work. See below for possible resolution. The first one I bought one did not work so I exchanged it; and that didnt work either. I thought it was a defective card and tried a different vendor. After having issues with a third card from a different vender I realized the motherboard's bios 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚.After I upgraded the bios, the card from the second vendor worked fine (card #3). I feel ashamed. I should have checked for a bios upgrade first. Save yourself some time. 𝘽𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠, 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠.𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙗𝙞𝙤𝙨 𝙪𝙥𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙚. Note : the bios may or may not show the drives
