VERY BRIGHT - love base and clip on choice
I am VERY happy with this light. I use it for when I am embroidering. Its very bright. Its white light not yellow tone. The base is very heavy. It is not going to tip over. Think of it as the heaviest paperweight ever. I also love that you can remove it from the base and it put it in the clip to attach to the table, which is how Im using it and it swivels. Very easy to switch from base to clip on option. As for the magnify part its very nice. I look at my work through it to check for spots of material I might have missed when stitching- such as filling in an area with strait stitches. My table I clamp the light to is one inch wide. I tried to put a a thin book about 1/2 inch in the clamp with the table as well but it wasnt too sturdy. The opening would have to go deeper. So its not going to clamp onto a 2 inch table. I was trying to see my work magnified through the magnifiers you wear around your neck that they sell for needle work and those work and have a light, but it needs batteries. I found its way easier to just use magnifying reading glasses from the drugstore and use this very bright light to see with. Also Im seeing the true colors of my threads with the white light tone vrs yellow light bulbs. the light part is 5 inches in diameter. So its not too big. I think it would be a bit frustrating to hold your work and look through the magnifying part as the diameter is only 5 inches. You would need to constantly center your stitching area while you held it in your hand. you wouldn't be able to just glance around. But its amazing how the drug store glasses work great. I ve turned into my mom.the previous light I was using was ok. But this one is way better and brighter. And the swivel part is great because when Im not having it shine on my work I just push it out of the way and so I do not have to unclamp it from the table. My cat of course doesnt like it since its very bright so he sleeps facing the other way. Also the light shines down on your work, not up into your eyes. However, you can flex the light to point in any direction. Up, down , sideways. Again very bright. This was my first light to try and I lucked out. I thought I might have to try several before I found a really good one I liked. Always nice when that happens.

Produce beauty, save your eyesight
I was amazed at the quality of this table lamp. I enjoy creating cross stitch pieces on even weave fabric which I thought I would have to give up due to a decrease in my vision. I took a chance after reading reviews on many lighted magnifying lamps and chose Brightech based on consumer/professional reviews. This is a sturdy based lamp with a gooseneck allowing for various positions without toppling over. It's bright and magnifies without distortion. It is value priced and also comes with an extremely sturdy clip should you want to attach it to a table. Up until this purchase, I thought my days of doll making were finished but the Brightech lamp has restored my ability to embroider. You won't be disappointed if you purchase a Brightech light!

It. Works.
As a miniature figure painter, I am almost always dealing with figures that are 30mm in size or smaller. Most of the time, the tiniest details are often neglected since they are nearly impossible to distinguish from larger details or simply because sometimes they are too difficult to hone a brush too. This magnifying light has made both of those difficult tasks a lot more simple. The magnifying glass is a heavy, quality lens, something you can actually feel the weight of and not like what you would find on a children's toy. The magnification makes the object 2-3 times its regular size with near zero loss in clarity and it is simple to find a good focus point from several distances depending on the scale you want. The LED light is powerful and clean, I have used it for the past 3 months now for various purposes while painting. Ranging from using it as a simply crafting lamp to exploring various angles for a good shadow effect. It works wonderfully in tandem with the lens. The flex arm leaves a little to be desired, it is incredibly stiff and at times a little difficult to position, you will have to grab and support the base to prevent it from moving while adjusting. I haven't used the clamp that it came with but I have set it up to test it out and wasn't terribly impressed with how it mounted, seemed a little weak, like a significant adjustment would pull it off whatever its mounted to. But seriously guys, this has not been an inconvenience in the slightest. For the quality, and the price, the thing could break today and I would buy another one because it has achieved everything I wanted from this equipment. I greatly appreciate it.

UuuhhhMAZING for cross stitch.
Extremely well-made, the magnification is glass, very heavy duty with a clamp that opens very wide and clamps on to my laptop frame and is very sturdy. Also pops into a very heavy base which does not tip. The light is very bright and there isn’t one bad thing I can say about this light. I suppose the only thing I could say would be, that if it was cordless, it would be ideal, but then cordless doesn’t last very long, nor is it as bright. Great buy for stitchers.
