Unscrew the aerator from your faucet. 2. Determine if you need an adapter (if faucet threads are on the outside, you will most likely not need an adapter).If your faucet threads are on the inside, you will need to use one of the adapters and washers provided. Select the proper adapter and washer that fit your faucet. If neither fits, please call BRITA Consumer Services. 3. Attach the base of your system to your faucet. 4. Supporting the bottom of the base system with one hand, insert the filter cartridge into the filter cup until a "click" is heard. 5. Hold the filter cartridge above the filter cup; align the Insert Groove on the lower part of the cartridge with the corresponding groove inside the front of the filter cup. 6. A green signal will flash within 10 seconds, indicating that the filter is engaged (only for Model FF-100 with Advanced Features). 7. Turn filter handle to the filtered BRITA water setting. 9. Turn on the faucet to flush the new filter for 5 minutes. (The 100-gallon filter life begins after the 5-minute flush period) Filters should be replaced after approximately 100 gallons of filtered water or about every 4 months. |

Shouldn't it hold up better?
I like mine, but it seems the mount is not lasting as long as it should. I have had mine for a little over two years, and it no longer diverts all the water through the filter when the switch is turned, so there's a lot of wastage.

water flow is in 2-4 streams and it leaks
We were replacing our old Pur filter and decided to go with this Brita because it had some great reviews. It was simple to install and only took a minute. It seemed to work great so we ran it for 5 minutes like it said to flush it (once you do this you can not return it so beware) and then turned it off. The next time we turned the water on it came out in 2 streams which was weird. So, we took it off and reinstalled it thinking we didn't line it up right, turned it back on and this time it came out in 4 streams and a little bit of spraying to the side. Every time we turned it off and on again the water came out different. The next morning, we went to use it and noticed water coming from around the faucet where the filter connects to it. It is a complete waste of money since we cannot return it once you use it by flushing it. How are you supposed to know if it will work if you don't use it? It also says it has a flashing indicator to let you know when to change it but the one we received does not have a light at all to flash. It is just a green dot that is supposed to change red when time to change it. I don't know if they just lied about the flashing light or if we were sent the wrong one in the box. So disappointed with this and sorry I bought it. I'll probably be tossing this one and going back to Pur. This Brita system seems flimsy and doesn't feel like it will last more than a week if that.EDITED: It didn't last 24 hours. Last night the switch to turn it from not filtered to filtered broke when we turned it to unfiltered water so now we can't even use it. Took it off and threw it in the trash.

Clean water when filter stays on!!
The Brita system is very easy to install. I had it installed and operating in 10 minutes drinking fresh water....then the filter popped off and sprayed water all over me and my kitchen, yikes!! Then I went on Amazon and read some of the reviews where others had the same issue. Some people thought it was a malfunction of the release button. I called Brita and the representative suggests it I take the system off the faucet put it on the counter and pressed the filter into place. She said when the filter was in place I should hear a click. I did as she asked and I heard the click. I had not heard a click before yet it felt like it was in place, it wasn't. After putting it on the counter,pressing it down and hearing the click it's no longer popping off!!! I am so happy with my purchase. The water tastes and smells awesome. And I know it is pulling out all the chemicals that I don't want to drink. It's frightening to think that water companies use ammonia and chlorine to disinfect the water that comes into our homes to drink. And the filter cleans a hundred gallons of water that's a huge cost savings too!
