Great concept! Needs a lot of refining
I LOVE the idea! It's helped me learn to better read Braille by touch. There are some glitches here and there and the documentation is bare-bones at best. I've never been able to get auto scrolling to work.My biggest dissappointment is with notifications. Unlike most smartwatches, you can't choose which notifications come to the watch - it simply mirrors whatever your phone is set to. With all the apps sending notifications to a phone, it's not a good approach.Given the way notifiations are "displayed" on the watch (by number, which is never explained), it quickly becomes a confusing mess to try to scroll through. Is #1 my text messages or is #3 from Telegram and #8 from Facebook? My phone notifies me of about 20 different things. I really just want text messages on my watch. To accomplish that, I'd have to turn off ALL the other notifications on my phone too. Most smartwatches let you choose which notifications are delivered to the watch within their own app - not just mirroring the phone. So basically, I now use my Dot Watch for the time and date only, which any Braille watch can do. Don't get me wrong - I love and support this concept! I feel proud to have contributed and I hope they continue to develop and improve.Battery life. It's terrible. If I don't "power off" I'm lucky to make it through a 2 hour movie checking the time now and then. So, I've just gotten used to powering on, checking the time, then power off again.Lastly, until it connects to your phone, the time gets way out of sync. So, if you go out with the watch, but no phone, the time slowly but surely gets further and further behind.Sorry to sound so negative. I would buy it again in a heartbeat even as-is because I believe in the product. My hopes are that these issues will eventually be sorted out and improved. I'll be next in line to buy future versions.

If I could give this seller and Amazon NO STARS on this review, I would
This is my first negative review and I’ve bought thousands of things from Amazon over the years, so this says a lot.I bought this watch as a Christmas present for my dad who is totally blind. At first on Christmas Day, this watch was awesome and I wish I had bought it directly from the dot watch store online but I am a loyal Amazon customer and it was easier to buy it here so I did that. Big mistake, huge. The watch broke and malfunctioned so horribly by late March that it wasn’t loading any Braille correctly at all. We did everything we could trying to troubleshoot the watch and we were in direct contact with the official dot watch store via email for product support but that wasn’t helpful and so I reached out to both Amazon and since I had purchased an asurion product protection for the watch I contacted them too. First, Amazon was very unhelpful which was shocking since they’ve been extremely helpful in the past with other products but their hands were tied because on March 18 my return window had closed and so I only had options available to contact both asurion and the Amazon seller “the good buy store.”I contacted both multiple times and nobody ever replied. Amazon reassured me that of course asurion would help me, but asurion never did. The official watch company Dot Watch couldn’t do anything like replace it or accept a return since it wasn’t purchased from their store. This watch costs $300 new. So, after feeling that my options had been exhausted, I just went ahead and purchased a second watch for $300 from the official Dot Watch store as a replacement. We are hoping that we will have much better luck this time around and I anticipate should any problems arise that we will since we will be dealing directly with the watch company. This watch is an amazing watch for a blind person. My dad loved it so much when it was working. We can’t wait to see in the upcoming future all that may be additional developments to update newer future models of this product. But we will never buy a watch from an Amazon seller again.I guess the one star will count towards that the watch did arrive on time just before Christmas Day, the seller did do that one thing right.

Very Happy with this Purchase
My husband is legally blind. He loves all things technology and he loves his watch. He likes to be able to tell time quietly, get text notifications, email notifications, etc. The only thing I would change is color. It would look more normal black.

Helps
This product is useful to me as a braille learner. Because there are only four cells at a time to read I don’t feel overwhelmed. I can use the memo function to practice new contractions without having to know them in order to input them. It is expensive and I hope to get more out of it in future.
