NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette Review: Funny, engaging...and useful info! - Thoroughly enjoyed this illustrated book--meant to only look at the first few pages when I got it, but then didn't want to put it down! It's a great primer for tourists and recent transplants and an affirmation (or maybe a gentle reminder!) for natives and long-timers, all written with good-natured humor that made me laugh out loud. The illustrations are great too, just the right balance of detail vs. economy of thought. If you're in NYC or going there, buy this book...and then please walk on the right...please! Review: For the guest room... - I discovered the author through his Facebook page, and knew the book would be perfect for me. I was so sure, I bought two copies. When they arrived, I sat down next to my sister and we started reading simultaneously-- I've been living in NYC almost ten years, she's been here 6 months. We both laughed and went, "Ohhh, yes!" and pointed out little bits to each other. Then I put one copy in our guest room. Sure thing, the next guests we had were delighted with the book and mentioned how funny and helpful it was to them. I'm just grateful the book is such a quick read, or I'd have to worry about replacing it every time a guest just *had* to finish it and walked off with it. ;) It's funny, it's useful, the visuals are clear. I'm telling all my other friends-who-host about it, because it makes us look good to have something so thoughtful for our guests. ;)

As a denizen of NYC: Buy this book.
I've been waiting for this book for some time now. I preordered it on September 4th, 2013, based on some preliminary artwork I'd seen of the project. I'm into classic graphic novels and illustration (think of old RAW/Spieglman era), and was intrigued by the approach. I'm also a New Yorker (Bed Stuy denizen at the moment), and have had an interest in street etiquette for a long time; "Move to the side if you're going to stop, nice tourists". I worked on 40th and B-Way for years, and really saw the need for some sort of pamphlet for visitors. This book exceeded my expectations. It's written with humor and wit, and really captures a lot of what it means to be a New Yorker. I found myself agreeing with and remembering literally ALL of the situations presented in this book. I also saw my failures, and realized that I already knew the rules of the street... it's a GREAT book for both native and toursits. The illustrations are great. I like the use of black (I'm a Charles Burns fan), This is a strong first entry from Nathan Pyle; I expect some more amazing work from him in the future. I am now a fan of his work. 5 stars. (I'd love a hardcover copy, signed by the author.... it'd go into my collection) ;)

An amusing way to learn how to stay out of other people's way
I bought this book because I love Nathan Pyle's comics on Facebook, and I was planning a trip to NYC. There is good advice here, presented in a (mostly) more amusing and succinct way than a travel guide would. But most of the advice is about how to be aware of your surroundings and stay out of the locals' way, when it comes right down to it. If you've lived in a busy city before (or if you do now), you have probably picked up on this already. Still, I'm glad to support Nathan's great work by buying his book!

You need this. Seriously just get it.
I got this for a friend who was moving to NYC but had it shipped to me so I put it in a package. Thought I would check it out first because I knew she wouldn't have much room..... so glad I did! What a gem!! This is hugely funny and clever and yet, a really helpful little book that presents tips in a way calculated to make you remember them. Would definitely recommend to people going to NYC on their own. Also, this dude does the hilarious Strange Planet comics so will definitely be ordering that when it comes out too.

Enjoyable Read
I bought two, one for myself and the other for a friend who LOVES New York City. Good advice (some of it tongue-in-cheek) for the visitor, with laughs included.

Fabulous book
I was given this book when I first moved to NYC and I give this book to anyone’s moved here. It’s still very relevant to today’s Manhattan lifestyle. Hilarious and useful

Cute, short, could be good for tourists.
Short book, cute and correct. If you are from NY you will get it, but it's not particularly funny or worth to give as a gift. It's ok for yourself and you are not expecting anything you don't already know as a New Yorker. It could have some value for a tourist. Easy to read, almost childlike.

If you are looking for an indepth guide, this isn't for you, but if you want a few hints and tips on how to survive a trip NYC, or even if you are moving to the Big Apple, then this perfect. Humorous and well illustrated, it is full of great ways to get along in the big city, and have a good time, without annoying the locals. Highly recommended.

Libro molto divertente e, per le mie esperienze a NYC, anche molto vero. Una lettura consigliatissima a chi ama NYC, a chi deve andarci o a chi c'è stato, che potrà ritrovarsi in tante cose.
