A huge waste of money. flimsy, the top comes out and doesnt go back in. Get something more substantial.

This pen is of flimsy plastic construction. The neuro tips do not seem secure when placed. I plan to try it but have kept packaging so I can return it if it breaks.

The neuropen is a good tool for what it is : a dual instrument for measuring light touch and pain sensation.However, it does lack build quality in that it's somewhat flimsy and made ENTIRELY of plastic. Having just received it today,I'm not confident it will stand the test of time. I can see this breaking within a year, and having to buy another one.

Looks cool, but I'm a little worried that the tiny plastic ridges that lock the monofilament in place will erode over time, rendering that function useless. A potential design flaw, or a clever marketing strategy.

Have been using this a lot for 3rd year rotations. Haven't had any problems with it. I had one resident tell me that the neurotips tend to draw blood, but this is because most people don't use them with the pen, which if used correctly, prevents applying enough force to draw blood. (press the tip until the slider is at the level of the white box) It's great to have these things all in one place, while everyone else is trying to track down tongue depressors to break to make a sharp point. And who has mono-filament on them? No one! Makes peripheral neuropathy testing a snap. I had one patient think the mono-filament was a needle I was going to stick him with (he was scared of needles).

Monofilament just falls. Cheap materia.

its a little flimsy when I use it during exams

The pen is constructed of cheap plastic. The monofilament is difficult to advance and slips off the track periodically. The device for testing sharp/ dull is flawed. The protective cap used to test for dull sensation has a sharp spur that remained from manufacturing and falls off the pin (which is sharp enough to pierce flesh) too readily exposuing the examiner to inadvertant jabs.I suggested purchasing the monofilament refills alone and continuing on with safety pins for sharp/ dull testing.Save your money, this product is overpriced and flawed.
