This mat is awesome, it just needs some breaking in
This mat is awesome, it just needs some breaking in. Yes, it is slippery AT FIRST. But after you use it 2-3 times, the slippery-ness will go away and you will absolutely love this mat. If you read the reviews on the actual Manduka site, they state that there will be an initial slippery feeling, which will require breaking in. This mat is very comfortable, the perfect amount of cushion, and is incredibly durable.

Love this mat!
I love this mat! I debated buying it because of the price, but it was definitely worth it. I chose the PROlite instead of the Pro because I practice at a studio 4-6 times per week and didn't want to lug around the heavy Pro.My favorite aspects of this mat are its density and support. My previous mat was a little thicker, less dense, and had more cushion. I liked this for my wrists and knees, and was worried the PROlite would not be as good in these areas. But it works great so far and I haven't had any problems with my wrists or knees. The mat is dense, so when I stand on it I have more support, which increases my balance in standing/balancing poses. My previous mat used to sink down and form an impression of my feet, but this mat does not do that and I have found my balance and steadiness has improved as a result. The size is also good for me (I'm 5'5").As for slipping, I don't have any complaints so far. I practice hot yoga (95 degree room) and for a normal effort class, I just wipe my hands a few times during class and I'm fine. If the class is really intense and I start dripping sweat, I put my hand towel down to use over the mat. With my previous mat I used a mat towel because I would slip all over the place. I've been using this mat for about 2 months, without doing the initial salt scrub & sun exposure to break it in. I find that for some reason my feet don't slip at all, ever. But if the class is really intense, my hands can start to slip.Overall, I really love this mat and am happy that I purchased it. I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking to expand their yoga practice. I didn't realize how much my other mat was affecting my practice until I switched to the PROlite.

Excellent Mat with the Perfect Amount of Cushion and Support
Welcome to the wonderful world of Great Yoga Mat Ownership! I've owned a handful of middle-of-the-road mats but as I take my practice more seriously, I thought I would invest in a higher quality mat. Like a good shoe, the perfect mat is a delicate balance between cushion and support and the Manduka ProLite mat nailed it and delivered. I use this for Bikram Yoga (with a Youphoria yoga towel) and the high quality high density 1/4" thickness foam is great for keeping balance and not allowing your standing foot/leg to sink into the mat. Between the mat and the towel I haven't experienced any slipping yet. I highly recommend this mat. I've been using it ~3times/week for 2 weeks. So far no issues, wear, or funky smells.I bought this mat in Isabela and it is a beautiful and vivid in color. I absolutely adore it! I've also looked at some of the other colors and wish I could buy it in some other colors too, but at this price, I better not. :(I also bought the Manduka Mat Wash to keep it clean and in tip top condition. I spray and wipe it down after every use.It is a little on the heavy side so I would recommend using a mat strap to sling it (crossbody) over your back.

Sturdy, but slippery
I've had this mat for about a month now and use it in class three to four times per week. It makes for a very comfortable practice, but is extremely slippery, despite promises that the "film" that causes the slipperiness when it's new would wear off after a couple classes. It's a great mat if you can afford a Manduka towel to use with it.

Slippery! Help!
I was skeptical about paying this much money for a yoga mat. I had always used cheap mats, and how different could an expensive one be? But after picking up yoga regularly (3 times a week or more) I decided it was time to upgrade. After LOTS of research, I decided on this one.Pros: From the first time in my hands, I could tell the difference in quality. Wow, what a great mat for cushioning the joints without losing stability and support. Wonderful. The color is delightful as well, and I had lots of compliments.Cons: I cannot get this thing to not be slippery! I've tried everything- sea salt, scrubbing with cleaner and a rag, LOTS of using it- and I still slide, especially my hands in down dog. I love it too much to not use it though, so I've settled for using a towel on top so I don't slide as much. It's not ideal, but I do love this mat.

Huge Disappointment
I am so disappointed with this mat, especially since it cost so much. This brand was recommended to me by my yoga teacher. It is super-slippery. The dirt from the studio floor sticks just fine, but my hands and feet do not. Even after the recommended salt scrub (see the Manduka web site for this), I can't stay in a down dog without sliding, before starting to sweat. Manduka recommends using a towel if slipping is a problem, but I did not spend this much money on a mat to have to use a towel on it. I never had this problem with my cheap box store mat. It is also more narrow and less cushioning than my old cheap mat, so I have to reposition myself often to stay on the mat when changing poses, and I am a small person. The smell isn't overpowering, but it still has more of an odor than I thought it would. I am very sorry I bought this mat.

Great quality mat
Great quality mat! I recently decided to take my yoga practice seriously and purchased this mat, and have found myself doing even more yoga now that I have it! It has the same support and durability of the original Manduka mats I've tried but at half the weight. It took a few uses to break in the mat to the point where it wasn't slippery anymore. Does a great job even during hot yoga; if you're sweating on your mat, you won't find yourself slipping and having to constantly reposition. Easy to clean and easy to bring with you wherever you're going. Highly recommend!!

Good mat! Salmon colour gets dirty quick.
Great mat, rubber smell doesn't last very long, especially once cleaned with sea salt and warm water. I'm about a month in, the grip isn't where I want it yet... Still a little slippery. Also, the salmon colour gets dirty really fast. I suggest going for a darker colour.

Great for tall people!
I've dabbled in yoga before officially starting classes at my local studio, and knew that I needed to have a longer mat (I'm 6' tall). It was incredibly difficult task, but after finally finding this one... I can conclude that this mat is wonderful. It feels like a standard thickness, and it isn't too heavy for me to be carrying on the subway. The colour is a really striking aqua, which I wasn't sure I'd like but really is beautiful. It was worth every cent!

Super!
