PAMPET Trombone Straight Mute (Trombone Mute)

I have been playing the trombone for over 60 years. Someday I might really learn how to play it right. 😀 I have used practice mutes for years so I won’t bother others while practicing and I believe the resistance they give makes your chops stronger. Anyway this little gem is the best practice mute I have ever owned. It is cheaper than the big bulking ones I use to play and better.

Bought it for my son's trombone so he could practice at home with less impact on the neighbours LOL. It worked great! Even quieter than we expected. It was also very light weight and fit snugly, easy to put & stay in place.

This review is for the 'PAMPET Trombone Straight Mute'. It is not really a straight mute, despite the lable. It is a practice mute. It has a black plastic body with a foam rubber pad to hold it in the bell. Although this is not a concert straight mute, and can only be used to quiet your practice session, it is a good thing to have. As a practice mute, it is satisfactory. It seals off the bell so the air can only escape via a small hole at the end of the mute. It seems to work okay for that purpose on my tenor and bass trombones. It's good for practicing sheet music without waking the neighborhood, or your spouse. It's not good for practicing tone and intonation. But it's a good tool to have.

I had not been doing enough practicing at home because I didn't want anybody to hear me (make mistakes). I have tried straight and cup mutes, but they do not quiet the sound of my trombone enough to make me feel comfortable. The sound from this mute is nearly inaudible from behind a closed door. I can make all the mistakes I want and not worry that anybody cares. Sound (pitch) in the range above high F is less than optimal, but it is possible to work in this range. After getting this mute, I have been practicing much more at home and it makes a big difference in getting me ready for performances.

Very impressed with this inexpensive mute. It's just as good as some that I've owned that cost twice as much. The volume reduction is drastic. It's a bit stuffy as practice mutes tend to be. Only real downside is that it does not fit entirely in the bell so this mute does not fit into my hard case.

This mute worked much better than cheap red and white colored ones that feel like they are made out of cork board and corrugate cardboard. It reduces volume significantly (moreso than the cheap red and white ones). The only downside, is that I can't hear my exact sound on trombone identically to a quiet version of the original. It will distort sounds slightly, but It is the best practice mute I've ever seen out of 2 or 3 I used haha. TLDR: Great product, great value, allows me to quietly play t-bone in a Duplex. Only downside, it does slightly distort sound. Small price to pay for being able to play music in my room any time of night or day

It had been a while since I’d played after moving into an apartment and not wanting to shell out for a silent brass mute, this practice mute is almost silent and is great to play on, I’d say far less resistance than a straight mute! It also comes with a carrying bag that keeps the mute safe in travel.

It's about what I was expecting for the price. If you're in a pinch and need a practice mute for cheap, this will do the job. It's really quite quiet. But the crazy amount of back pressure makes playing in the high register almost undoable. Also worth noting that it's not quite small enough to leave in your bell when your horn is in its case.

It works really well. I am a retired trombonist and was looking for a cheap practice mute to play in the apartment, this came top of the list. It didnt disappoint me. If you are looking for a practice mute but dont want to bust your wallet, this is probably a good alternative. The size is also small enough to be kept in my yamaha hard case!

Mit dem Dämpfer muss man etwas mehr Druck aufbauen, aber bedingt durch die Nachbarn hilft es gut zu dämpfen beim Spielen.

トロンボーン用の消音ミュートとして購入しました。少し吹き心地に抵抗感が増えますが、音はきっちり抑えられるので真夜中の練習でも隣家から苦情が来ることはありません。とても良い感じですよ。

Brilliant practice mute. Fits my tenor horn perfectly . Cannot fault it. Amazing price.
