Very well-made sword at a fantastic price
I have been looking for a functional costume piece for a while, and while skimming Viking swords, I spotted this and was impressed enough by the reviews to stop and read them.I am not a metallurgist or a close-quarters combat specialist, so I will leave that to the experts.I own quite a few blades, large and small. This sword is an impressive find. The blade is solid and the steel appears strong, straight, and well-honed. The edges are sharp enough when received (I don't require the razor test). The hilt and pommel are very nicely attached and the copper color is very appealing.I have worn this to an event recently and received several compliments on its appearance and inquires about where to get one. While I cannot attest to its combat effectiveness, I can confirm that if you are looking for a really nice blade, this is quite a treasure.

You get what you pay for.
I have a soft spot for Petersen type æ swords, and have a tendency to buy any type of reproduction I stumble across. As a result, my collection ranges in quality, from Deepeeka to Albion. This sword is definitely toward the lower end of the quality scale, but I can't complain for the price or the source. Buying a sword off Amazon will always be a gamble. To start off, this is definitely NOT the Windlass reproduction of the Suontaka sword. I have two of the Windlass swords, and there are distinct differences between them and this sword in dimensions, quality, and handling. If you can afford the Windlass, I would suggest buying that sword over this one. That being said, this sword is about 150 dollars cheaper, and the quality is about what I would expect in the 200-250 dollar range. It is over built, I assume to make up for lesser quality steel in the blade. That makes the sword very heavy and unwieldy, even for a Viking Era sword. The sword also seems to be rather durable as a result. I waited about 16 months to do this review so I could test the durability of the sword, and it has held up (mostly). The fit and finish is acceptable for the price range. The sword looks good at a distance, but it is no show piece. The sword is true to the original find, but not 100% accurate. There is no blade warping, and surprisingly, the pummel is peened. The scabbard is a bit tight, and doesn't align with the hilt very well, but is otherwise good quality, and functional. The sword is also functional after some work. The "razor sharp" edge that is advertised in the description is extremely optimistic at best. Mine came rather dull and took several hours of sharpening to get the edges to cut paper. After sharpening up the blade, I was able to cut tatami mats. Not well, but I was able to. The blade is thick for this type, affecting its cutting ability. After that, I hacked at some pine logs. This is not what swords are meant for, and is considered abusive by most sword enthusiasts standards. One of the decorative triangles of copper on the handle immediately popped off, but otherwise the sword held up fine. I was able to examine the piece that fell off, and it does appear to be solid copper, not plated. The hilt had no rattle thanks to the peened pommel, but the blade had some nicks in it. I touched up the blade and superglued the decorative piece back on, and the sword was back to new. I occasionally cut with it still for training, and have not had any issues with it. Overall, I would put this sword a little above Deepeeka in quality, but a better value for the price. It is more unwieldy than my type æ from Deepeeka but didn't come with a warped blade. The fit and finish is more or less the same as a Deepeeka otherwise. If you are looking for a passable display piece, it may or may not work for you. If you want a Viking Era (ish) sword for cutting, I would suggest something a little better quality. I do find this sword great for strength training because of the weight. Going from swinging this sword to my Albion makes the Albion feel even more light and nimble. To sum up the review in one sentence, you get what you pay for. If you want a high end sword, you will probably spend 800 dollars or more. If you have reasonable expectations for the price range of this sword, you won't be surprised by what you get.

Good value for the money.
I give this 5 stars because there is a lot given for a very good price. The sword and sheath look very good. The sword is razor sharp. My main complaint is that the sword is too heavy. It weighs over 3.5 pounds. As a result, the balance is not all that good, although not bad considering the weight. I have no desire to try to use this in a fight, but I like to be able to experience what a properly weighted and balanced sword feels like. I don't know why so many sword makers make swords that are way too heavy. Perhaps, their customers prefer it. Anyway, this will be hanging on the wall along side another Viking sword, and it will look great.

Great buy!
The sword arrived looking exactly like the picture, that doesn't happen too often. It solidly built, the blade was oiled correctly. The scabbard was tight but it went right in. It was sufficiently sharpened as it said it was. There were no dents there was one scratch where they clamped down the base of the scabbard that's to be expected though. Overall I would say it's definitely worth the money.

Craftsmanship just not there.
The whole sword is very thick. The Guard & Pommel are very think Copper. The blade is think, with a steep seconded bevel. Grate wall hanger not good for much else.

SCAM!!! they will send you junk and try to keep your money zero stars horrible company service
not a fan of the most important part....the blade, its got divets and uneven ground spots and a horribly rough sharpening job as well as horrible tip. also the makers seem to not care about customer satisfaction at all. i have found far better swords for cheaper these makers and sellers should be ashamed.

Solid weight to heft, beautiful sword and scabbard to behold
Exactly as advertised, used for display purposes for me, rather than actual use or re-enactment. Really liked the look of both the sword and scabbard. Copper accents look great and better than my expectation. Fixtures and attachments are well done on mine with no gaps or other production issues. It is solid and has real weight. Will happily look for additional offerings from the seller in the future based on this experience
