It is 3 inches high on the tall side and 1 inch on the short side.

Do you need to divide the lengths into sections? If so, what is the maximum length of a section and what would you recommend between the sections?

No i did not divide mine. And i have not had any cracks yet. But i do expect some later. After all thats what concrete does.

What method do you recommend to cure the cement?

cement/concrete cures through a chemical process that begins when water is added to the mixture it cures over time. typically it is hard in a few hours and takes several days to cure

Will Play Sand work as the sand for the 4:1 mix for this?

Yes Any sand will work Play sand is actually polished and works very well
