Surprisingly Durable and Impresses Co-Workers
I have had several Co-Workers ask where I got it. Their comments are generally along the lines of "that sure isn't one of those cheap gas stations ones!". Of course they see me using it to hammer nails into wood. Or to hammer a kip handle loose. Or to break something I don't just want to hit with my hands. They also it carrying several keys and a small flashlight(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006VPPERC/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and even my Locks for LOTO on occasion.(though both locks plus everything else is a bit much for it to hold locked in place. A good swing will send my cord down). It has even shredded my woven belt. It is all frayed from having this thing put on and pulled off it. Rather than being upset, this pleases me. It tells me that the Key-Bak has a good solid grip and makes me confident it won't come off by accident. The only con I can come up with is that the latching is weakening. I noticed that some time ago. It is to the point that even my keys plus flashlight can cause it to unlock from time to time(though keys only still stay in place). A sturdier locking mechanism would be awesome but this one does the job. 10 bucks for something like this that lasts a year with my rough use really is nothing to sneeze at. Plus for Lock-out Tag-out I am unlatching and re-latching at 10 or more times a day in some cases for the locks alone. Add in using my flashlight to inspect parts and it probably gets latched and unlatched over 20 times a day on average, if not more. I lied. There is one other con. The way it latches means that it doesn't work well left handed. I tried switching it to my left hand side and found it much more cumbersome to use than on the right. I am right handed though so it doesn't really affect me much, I just wanted to spread the wear on my belt a bit. So to look at my last con - this item would be beyond perfect if it had a stronger latch that doesn't wear out in over a year that was equally easy to use right and left handed. UPDATE 9/26/2014- Well as of this week it finally bit the dust. That is still over two years of heavy use. And the I could tie the cord around the key ring and continue using it as is. However, the cord finally tore right around the point where it connects to the ring. But I am very hard on it(in fact the general comment from friends and coworkers is amazement in that it took me more than two WHOLE years to break it). All in all I have been very satisfied and ordered a new one. Very good value for your dollar.

Awesome!
This worked perfectly for all of my work keys. I used it for almost 3 years before I had to buy a new one. The only issue I had is that I am constantly using my keys so the locking mechanism started wearing down and stopped locking into place. Other than that it was amazing

Best Keychain Yet!
Bigger and more durable compared to the small Keychain they used to sell which I highly doubt they do since it's been since 2021 if not 2022 that i got from my old co workers to the point where it finally got its clip broken off and this comes with a promising key ring to keep every key in place especially love the fact you can insert them inside the slot to prevent them from hanging which I find a plus.

random loose part.
Overall, I'm happy with the Key-Bak keychain and it works exactly as expected. The retractable cord is sturdy, and it makes it easy to keep my keys accessible throughout the day. The build quality feels solid, and it has held up well with regular use. The only issue was that it arrived with a random loose part in the package, and there weren't any instructions explaining what it was for. Thankfully, it didn't seem to affect the keychain's performance, and everything has worked fine since I started using it. If the packaging and quality control were a little better, I would have given it five stars. Even with that minor issue, it's still a product I'd recommend.

Durable and repairable
I'm a facility maintenance manager and I have lots of keys that are heavy and I use them many times daily. I bought one of these 3 years ago because the other brands are trash and I got tired of clipping and unclipping my keys from my belt loop. The cord finally broke a few weeks ago. I think that is great durability considering how much I use it and how may times I have had it get caught on something. I bought another one to replace it and got a third one for a coworker. On my new one I got it stuck in a door and yanked the cord all the way out hard and the spring came loose inside the reel and the cord would not retract. Because it is well built I was able to unscrew the screws (T9 torx I think) to take it apart, reconnect the spring, wind it up and re wrap the cord and put it back together. It works great again.

Keep up everything safe and close to you
I am using this to hold my badges and some important cards and keys that I have to care at work. The clip is very good. Overall a really good product.

Keeps Your Keys From Falling Out of Your Pocket While You're Popping Squats at Work
Not to brag, but I've lost a lot of stuff. Thank you ADHD. Truly my most unreliable and loudest friend. Security badges, keys, knives, my wife, walkie talkies, my โJamaican Me Crazy" keychain, etc. ALL GONEโฆuntil I got this KEY-BAK Keychain that is. If you know me you know two things, I like a good vegan pancake, and I look good in a long sleeve shirt, (which is also primarily all I wear, and some people might say that means I always look good, but we arenโt here to talk about those heroes) but if you really really know me, you know your boy is going to lose a few things. Now donโt get me wrong, I believe everything has itโs place and every place has itโs thingโฆor else. However, even someone as sane as myself is going to eventually lose something. You canโt bend, lift, high-kick, and squat as much as I do, and then not expect to have something fall out of your pocket (and if you really really really know me, you know I pop A LOT of squats). I work hard for what I got, so you better believe Iโm showing off the goods. Thatโs neither here nor there, all Iโm saying is my penchant for the dramatic and my โgrotesqueโ need for never-ending compliments has betrayed me a time or two. If youโve ever worked in an office, you know the deal. You go in dreading your day, you swipe your badge to enter the building, pop your squat, and then your horribly janky badge reel breaks. Now youโre left carrying your badge and or keys around like a chump holding his best friendโs purse while she takes her 97th selfie, hoping one day sheโll look at you the same way she looks at that phone. Thatโs no way to live, (unless youโre any type of politician, then it's deserved), and that was almost me until I got this key reel. Iโve used this KEY-BAK Keychain NONSTOP during my 10+ hour shifts, and it still works flawlessly. The cord still feels good and the base is solid. I'm not a big fan of the Happy Meal plastic toy feel, but if I focus on the positives (an attitude of gratitude, thank you very much) and have a drink or three, I'm good. When I see other people with their regular run of the mill badge/key reels, I feel a little sad for them. For any squat they pop could be the last.

Best keyring I've ever had
I ordered this recently to replace my old keyring, which was wearing out after five years of heavy use (I had to buddy that one up and attach a second keyring in the final few months to support the increasing weight of extra keys). Anyway, I bought this one having read good reports about it on Amazon. I should mention though, that this keyring isn't made by Baracoda - it's actually built by a US company called Key-Bak, and are shipped over from New York. I've had it for about two weeks now, and I've noticed it's considerably stronger than my previous two combined keyrings. I quite like the ability of being able to 'lock' the keys in place when the cord is retracted, which is done by clipping the attachment into the body from the side. This is particularly useful for me, due to my large key collection. The only thing I would say, is that the cord is VERY long. I'm over 6' tall, and even when the keyring is attached to my belt, reeling out the cord to its full length allows the keys to touch the floor, so it's a good thing I can lock them in place! If you don't mind waiting a few days for delivery, I would say it's very much worth paying for.

Ok but way too big
It works as advertised, but this thing is huge. Itโs like a badge holder for elephants.
