Osprey Daylite Plus Daypack

Okay, so I want to answer the questions that I seem to hard a hard time finding decent info for from other reviews and on the product page itself. For the record I am a 5'10" dude at about 185 lbs so I had a lot of concerns about a smaller bag like this. After trying it out, here's what stands out- hopefully this is helpful to people with similar interests as I had:Color: I liked it much more than I thought I would. Went with black because frankly the other color options are abhorrent looking (except for the blue with yellow trim, which was $15 more). But it is actually a deep charcoal in person. I think it looks great.Size: As I said before: 5'10". About 185. Fairly broad shoulders. I will say that this bag looks decent and fits fine, but I DO WISH I had gone with one of Osprey's larger models. You can see in one of my pics how the bag looks when it is just sitting naturally on me - as far as looks go, I think it's not too big, not too small. But it's not the bag itself that's the problem, it's the straps. They are super narrow and very short. You can see in one of my pictures that with the bag at a comfortable position (not hitched all the way up) I have MAYBE about 5" of slack left in the strap. The chest harness has a lot of extra room, but is annoying because there is no convenient way to store the extra slack (one of the reasons I love North Face bags). The belly strap, much like the arm straps, is very small with little extra.The bag fits, but if you are someone much bigger than me, this bag will NOT work for you. Not without some serious modifications, anyways.Stuff-It pocket: This is cool. There wasn't a single shot of what it looked like inside anywhere I saw online, so I included one. You will notice that it narrows considerably at the bottom... not too big a deal for stowing a sweater or something, but don't expect anything angular like a book to sit comfortably in there.Water Bottle holders: I saw a lot of questions about this in the Q/A for the product page. To alleviate some concerns, I have some pictures of what my 1L Hydroflask looks like in the bottle holster. It fits securely, but note that it does look a tad bit ridiculous, due to how small the bag is. But bottom line is: it fits fine, though it may slightly displace things at the bottom of the bag.Laptop Sleeve: What can I say- it works fine. I saw a number of questions about what would fit inside, so I included a pic of my 15" Macbook Pro (2015 model) sitting in there snugly. You hardly feel it when it's on your back- I would say that getting a laptop and a book or something for a night class would be no problem at all. Too much more than that though, and you may find yourself pressed for space.Additional features: I am annoyed that the belly band strap doesn't detach. I thought it did for some reason but it does not, and there is no convenient way to stash it when not in use. If you are like me and hate those things dangling at your sides all the time, prepare to be annoyed. The chest strap is easily adjustable, but as I said above, I wish I could stow the slack from the extra strap when it is adjusted. Build quality is very nice- this bag isn't advertised as water resistant, but it definitely doesn't feel like it would be easily soaked. Nothing a rain cover couldn't fix, anyways.Bottom line: Great feeling, great looking bag. This bag would be PERFECT (five stars) with some very small adjustments from Osprey: more slack in the straps, detachable belly band, and somewhat thicker/higher quality straps would make this thing for me. If you are a larger person, expect issues with fit.I am taking this bag on a serious of day trips at the end of the month, and if anything in particular stands out to me, I will come back and update my review.To Osprey Marketing people: if you are reading this, PLEASE update/do your videos differently. People don't want an explanation, they want to SEE it; thus the video. If you want to see what a good video for a bag looks like, check out any of the Thule or Peak Design Amazon product videos. They show what fits where, demonstrate all the bag features, and actually SHOW them loading their bags up, item by item. Very handy, and should be the standard imo.

BUY THIS and let me know if this review is helpful below! I just went to Cambodia and Vietnam for 15 days with just a carry-on roller bag (that I checked) and a backpack. Although I knew this backpack would be comfortable, I was concerned it wouldn't be big enough. I wasn't going to use this bag as a daypack. Instead, I just wanted something that was comfortable to carry things from one place to the other.I am SO glad that I went head and purchased this anyways. This bag is the most comfortable backpack I have ever used and the pockets are amazing. The main pocket is huge and has a computer sleeve inside (that I just used for other stuff). On the outside of the bag, there is a smaller pocket on the top with 2 mini pocket holders inside. The zipper pocket in the front is huge and can fit essential items. Additionally, that flap with the zipper pocket is also a pocket that you can stuff anything in.I fit the following things in this bag (which I used as a carry-on when I checked my bag at the airport):Main Pocket: 1 thin sweatshirt, 1 thin long sleeve shirt, 2 pairs of underwear, 1 pair shorts, 1 short sleeve shirt, 1 pair of leggings, 1 pair of socks, 1 pair of toms, 1 quart size bags of medications, 1 quart size bag of liquids, Toothbrush, Hairbrush, Lonely Planet Travel book, printed packet of itinerary. Even then, I had a little bit of room.Smaller pocket on outside of bag: Clif Power Bar, Snickers, Heath Bar, Camera, Cellphone charger and cord, Camera charging cord, Headphones, Wireless Headphones, Earplugs, Kleenex Packet, Sunglasses, and Sleeping Mask.Flap Pocket: Tissues and Restaurant Napkins (for bathroom when there are no tissues)Small pocket on outside of flap: Hand lotion, Hand sanitizer, Suntan Lotion, Advil, and Tums (all items travel sized).This is everything I needed in case my bag got lost. My shoulders never got sore and my bag never got sweaty. This is a must buy. Enjoy!!!

Perfect size, great quality and finish, very light, compact yet spacious, super practical. I would call it a perfect backpack if not for 2 major flaws: 1. Water bottle pockets are not deep enough. They could have tighten them a little to prevent a bottle from falling out. 2. Integrated grab handle rubs against my lover neck making the wear very uncomfortable especially if you want to wear it high and tight when running for example. Many people raised those two issues before but osprey still makes the backpack the same way. What a shame...

I wanted a small day pack that could be attached to my Sojourn 60 while travelling, osprey say this one is compatible, however it exceeded my expectations in terms of fit and security. The straps on the pack loop through the fixings on the front of Sojourn, then the straps on the Sojourn go around the day pack, also concealing the bag partially, it fits perfect and looks very secure. Overall the bag looks good quality like most well known brands these days and lightweight. However, there are probably better daypacks. Pros and cons for me are;Pros*good quality, lightweight,*works well with the Sojourn,*has compression straps which is handy for items to be a fixed outside the bag,*handy extra pocket on the front,*waist strap, adjustable height chest strap.Cons*the compression part on the front is a pocket which limits its use a bit although I still managed to get a beach towel in it,*the interior is made from quite flimsy materials not like the great quality of the Farpoint bags for example,*there are no pockets in the main compartment other than a laptop compartment which is not the best for quality but ample and functional,*the back support does not look great to me although I am yet to try it on holiday in 90 degree heat. It is a thin one-piece flexible hard panel under mesh which is quite firm, with some slots in it. It feels quite comfortable indoors. When I first tried it with items in the bag, my camera made it bend inwards in the middle which was really uncomfortable. Also, there is space behind it for a water pack and I would think if you use that you may struggle to get the back board curving with and sitting well on your back. Being like a fixed firm board against your back is not the best design for me. I am also not sure how breathable and comfortable it is going to be although have not properly tested that. Other daypacks I have had like berghaus, north face seem to have better designed backs in terms of comfort and airflow.* the bag is not black to match the Sojourn. It looks like amazon have all the colour options, when you click the black coloured box you get a picture of a black pack, however the words above the small box say black/ blue. In fact, the front is teal blue and the sides are black so not like the photo. It is quite subtle but I really wanted all black to match the Sojourn.* there are 2 nets on the sides for bottles, they do not look very bottle shaped so not sure how good they will be. I have put a small bottle of water in it and it seems to hold ok but am yet to properly test it.Overall though, the pack looks good, is very lightweight and has some features I really like so I am hopeful I am going to like it.

I bought a Daylite Plus from amazon and a Daylite from Go Outdoors in their Black Friday sale, primarily for a trip to South Africa.These daypacks are ideal for my use: warm weather gear with camera, binoculars and food for a day out looking for wildlife.I don't use the hip straps - these can be removed instead of being cut off on other packs.The main advantages are: LIGHTNESS and COMFORT.I have yet to find a better daypack.

The water bottle pockets on this bag are too wide and too short to hold a water bottle and wont even hold a can of coke. I have tried all sorts of solutions but have broken to many precious bottles and mugs and burst cans of coke. The only solution is if your bottle has a loop that you can attach to the strap above. This way your bottle will be secure. Attaching the bag to the ariel AG is a lot harder than you'd expect since they're supposed to be compatible. When the bags are both loaded you'll spend a long time fumbling around to attach it.Pro's: lightweigt, comfortable, looks nice (but not as in picture), laptop compartment, it is compatible with ariel AG although not easy.

As an avid fan of Osprey bags I was really disappointed by this one. I’ve been using the day lite stuff pack for cycling for over 3 years now and I’ve done thousands of miles on the bike with, it as I commute 26 miles every day. I have never had any issues with the feel of the day lite on my back even though there’s no padding and the straps are really thin. I have carried a ton of stuff in that bag over the years and only because of the way I abuse it I’ve had to replace it before the holes in it get to big. So I opted for something a little more sturdier this time.So my first thoughts were that even though it’s a bigger bag it doesn’t seem to hold half as much stuff as my other one. The weight was also a surprise as it’s not really that lite. The laptop part at the back is handy as I carry my iPad most days and it slips in there easily.So the first day I’ve tried it I knew instantly I’d made the wrong choice of bag. Because of the way the straps are fastened to the bag it seems to squeeze around the neck. Also pushed my head down while cycling which is not good. So I undid the straps a little to ease off some pressure and then the bag sits way to low to be comfortable on a bike. It’s then flopping around because it’s loose. Then there’s the waist band. I don’t like to clip this as it restricts me while riding but the straps are so long and they just flap around if you don’t tie them up. It would be useful if you could just un-clip them to get them out of the way. If you forget to tie them up there’s a possibility they will get wrapped up in your wheels and that’s not going to make your day very good.Then there’s the tightening straps to pull everything in to keep it close to your back. While this is a good idea and very welcome on my Tallon I have, it’s just such a faff to unclip them every time I want something out of my bag. The front pocket doesn’t have a storm flap over the zip so goodness knows how waterproof that’s going to be.I know it’s not specifically designed as a cycling bag but it does say it’s multi sport.If I’d have not already used it I’d have sent it back for a refund. But without going for a ride with it on I’d never have known what it would be like to ride with. Super sad to give this a bad review as I generally have only great stuff to say about their line of bags, but hopefully once COVID has passed I’ll be able to go out and test a few bags in person.I’d say this is more of a youths school bag or a Uni student.
