I leave it open on the floor, easy to follow exercises, for even me, a senior, nice pictures,With heavy gauge paper!!

your wall will get dirty
This is a spiral bound book which includes exercises for a new take on pilates - wall pilates. I see this as the wall taking the place of the reformer for many of the exercises. The wall will provide stability as you work through the movements. I especially like the upper body exercises , the arm extension and twists using the wall as your base - leaving one arm on the wall can you twist and place your other arm on the wall.. not so easy! I'm not as enamored of all the lower body exercises. I can see that having your feet against the wall for stability is very helpful doing bridge and 1 leg movements. I am concerned though about the stabilizing foot slipping. If you're barefoot as the photos show, you may slip. I'd wear my pilates socks with the rubber buttons on the bottom for non slip. Also, if you have a space and do these exercises on the wall 3 or 4 times a week I can't see how your wall won't get dirty. OK - big deal . I like that there are alternate exercises for pilates to engage more people ( most everyone has a wall) and it's great to work out at home and these exercises are a great way to engage with pilates for a beginner. The photos and cueing is very well done, the exercises are laid out in an easy to follow format for the week. There are ways to advance. All in all a good book but I still prefer the reformer.

Finally! A Concise Way For Beginners Like Me To Get Started, The RIGHT Way! ;o)
Hello there, nice to meet you! ;o)This much wanted, fabulous book literally arrived about an hour ago! I'm over da' moon!I'm recovering from major abdominal surgery, and I've been looking for the right items to get me started back into fitness again. Suffice to say, this last month of fitness purchases haven't worked out well, as most of the equipment and guides didn't establish a solid foundation to start in the right direction. If anything, manuals were missing crucial information, or some of the equipment didn't make sense!That said, for the first time ever (at least for me), is a fitness book designed for newbies like me/us to get started in a clear how-to fashion, complete with a fitness plan and images to help me with good form too! As a teacher, the instructional design work done on this book is superb, and that's saying something!The fitness plan alone was worth the cost of this book, as I face new methods to get my body back in shape, and I'm feeling a bit rusty. I especially love the fact I can get started without any equipment other than the walls (and floor) of my house! Not only that, this book literally shows how beginners like how get started in the world of Pilates-- something I know nothing about.The author made sure her book is very thorough-- from sequences of images, a helpful bookmark to hold the spot, and the book is beautifully constructed with an easy open of spiral bound pages. I adore the way this quality book is laid out! ;o)Can't wait to get started tomorrow!Highly recommended! I want to give this higher ratings, but...
The book - Prevention's Wall Pilates 101 - is a very durable high-quality item; and the foreword is very instructive. Despite having experience with Pilates, however, it is a bit tough to follow the workouts. An accompanying QR code or link to see video demonstrations of each exercise would be immensely helpful.If someone did not have any experience with Pilates, they would likely be at a loss. The picture instruction within this book is not sufficient.

Excited to Exercise
After looking for a new beginner exercise program, I was excited to get this Prevention Wall Pilates book. It is easy to understand and has good pictures demonstrating the exercises. I tried a few and they are the kind that open up your body and wake up the muscle you are using. You know that feeling, like when you push straight out and feel that release of energy in the stretch? I am quite excited to get started and have set a date because I don't want to allow anything to disrupt the routine. I think this book is going to a challenge but a lot of fun, I can tell.

Beginners guide to Pilates book
What I like1–Nice hardcover book - spiral bound. You will need to use the book all the time so having it spiral bound is perfect2–The lettering is nice and large so I don’t have to wear my reading glasses while exercising3–I read the book the exercises have good instructions. Granted, I used to do yoga so I understand many of these poses but it really is quite intuitive just reading and following the pictures and instructions.What I didn’t like is there are no tabs to go back and forth. Example; the warm up section says to do a pose that’s listed on pg 75. What I did was make my own tabs so I can go directly to the warmup exercise instructions and so forth.Overall, this really is a nice book. I give it 4 1/2 stars. It’s a nice easy way to get back into exercise without hurting yourself.

I am keen to start these pilates challenges. They are well laid out in the book and interesting.
