This is a standard gate opener photocell, if yours goes bad, chances are that this one will work for you. Both sides need power and one side provides you with Normally Open and Normally Closed contacts to suit your needs.I actually repurposed the photocells to feed a sensor connected to the home automation system. And now I can get notifications on my phone as well as have Alexa notify me when anything has entered or exited the driveway. I’m oversimplifying it but that’s the general idea.

I picked these up as safety stops for my new driveway gate. The price on them is competitive with other offerings of similar products. It is nice they include both NC and NO contacts so you can use one or both sets.

I paired these sensors with my GateNear rolling gate opener and it makes me feel like I'm going into a gated community, but it's my house. LOL. Just be aware that this is only for the receiver and transmitter so you will still need to get the alarm host in order for these to work. These sensors make it convenient if I back out of the gate and then suddenly forget something or have to re-enter the property then I don't have to reopen the gate with my remote. These sensors also provide safety for my kids, and preventing any accidents involving my vehicles. These are the most important features for me because I have already put a dent in my Prius previously without these sensors installed because the gate hit my bumper.

After 20 years, the sensors or “eyes” of my garage door system failed. I used the same wires and attached this new set, one on each side. It took me a little time to line them up correctly so that they interrupt the door coming down if something is in the way, but that done, they’re working great.
