Yes. You can export Sequences, single tracks and full songs as midi files.

Do i need a computer to use this?

The answer is 'no' because the MPC range are standalone groove boxes on which everything can be done without the need to connect to a computer. On the other hand, the unit can be connected to a computer and can then be used as a hardware controller for the MPC software which can be installed on your computer from Akai and using the unit in this way it can sometimes be easier to see the bigger picture of what's going on with the music you're making with the unit. On a personal note, I am a Native Instruments 'Maschine' user and I tried the MPC for a workflow comparison and I simply could not get on with the MPC way of doing things and would recommend (if you definitely need a unit to be a standalone groove box) the 'Machine +'. Hope that helps you decide which way to go in your purchase.
