This doesn't work with my 2021 Kia e-Niro 4+, any ideas why?

Electric vehicles require special apps. Generic obd2 apps may not work. See Car Scanner ELM OBD2 (select the right profile) or EVNotify.

Android phones and tablets. When it's paired, it may become paired or previsouly connected. You can just start the app to connect, as actually it's connected with your phone by Bluetooth. There is no need to make it show as connected in Bluetooth.

Can this be used when buying a car to see recently deleted codes?

It's a useful tool when buying a used car to see if there any current faults stored in the ECU. Historical fault codes rarely show up as they would have been reset following a repair. Realistically with this device you can reset certain fault codes and check for current ones. Of course it will only show a fault if that system indeed has a sensor attached to it in the first place. So you could have low oil pressure but if the sensor is faulty or broken it won't give a read out.
