Subtly adds to the taste and colour of the curries I make

Taste is subjective and personal. Some people find the merest hint of pimenton too hot to handle. Others want to have the sweat running down their face to be happy.These Kashmiri chillies are medium, I would say. Just because I would have preferred hotter chillies doesn't mean I should deduct *. They are what they are.I bought them to make Tunisian harissa salsa. I removed most of the seeds. Once the whole melange of ingredients had been blitzed in the blender I put them all back and added a few more chillies.I soaked them for 2-3 hrs in what started out as boiling water. Recipes I've seen for using dried chillies mention 'hot' but don't specify whether that's hot tap hot or boiling.If, like me, you are in a part of the world that majors on butter, milk and cream in cooking [Normandy] but you like things more Med and N.Africa, buying these chillies may be the only source of heat.

Happy with the flavour

Very nice Kashmiri chillies, these are better and cheaper than chillies I have bought from a supermarket. These have a mild chilli heat, nice flavour, and a lovely deep red colour. I use them for making curry spice mixes by briefly heating them up with other spices, then using a small electric blender to make a spice powder. Really enjoyable to cook with.

Been looking for these dried chillies, and not disappointed, just made my own Kashmiri chicken curry and adding these into the homemade paste a, have added a great depth of flavour and colour . Highly recommended
