Can I remove the monitor shelf from the desk?

Yeah it had turn screws so you can fit it anywhere a long the desk or not at all and it's doesn't leave marks.

How far to the right can the desk shelf go

You an move the desk monitor shelf to anywhere around the desk, on the right above the shelves there is less room to connect underneath but it still fits. I have mine on the side of the desk to the right, only because my monitor base is to big to fit on the shelf.
