3 year Review. It's a great unit
The media could not be loaded. I've had my WEN 3800 Inverter Generator with Electric Start for 3 years now, and it continues to impress me. It starts up easily every time, runs reliably, and powers everything I need. It’s a bit on the heavy side, but the wheels and handle make it manageable. I get around 10 hours of runtime on a full tank using eco mode, which is great for camping, backup power, or job site use. Super quiet for the power it puts out. Overall, highly recommend if you're looking for a dependable mid-size inverter generator.

Get the Protection Plan, but awesome generator!
We live on a boat and bought this generator about a year ago. We use it almost every day to supplement our solar and wind generators. It is the easiest generator we’ve ever had to start. You basically turn a knob and it fires right up. The fuel tank is huge. Feed it at 10 p.m. and it runs until almost 9 a.m. at low. Plus, when shutting it down, you can just turn the “knob” to off and it works until it runs out of fuel, so you aren’t fouling the carburetor with old fuel if it sits for a while. Really great feature if it’s only used occasionally.Ours recently had an issue with the spark plug housing causing a voltage fault and inoperability. Like I said, we use ours pretty much daily. My husband did research and says this seems to be somewhat common and parts are available but hard to find. Thus my recommendation for the protection plan. We contacted Wen and found that the warrantee was for 3 years OR 500 hours. So, ours was now beyond the Wen warrantee. Yay, Asurion Protection Plan! We contacted Asurion and they declared it was a loss. So, we re-bought the exact same generator and are anxiously awaiting its arrival. So, yes, this is a great generator. Depending on your use, you might have issues. Love it enough that we bought it again.Just as an aside, since we live in a harbor with noise regulation, the decibel ratings were very important to us. There have been countless times one of us has pulled up to our boat in our dinghy and had to check to see if the generator was running. It’s that quiet. Believe it or not, the Honda 2200 we’ve rented while waiting on the new generator to arrive is MUCH louder. We can hear the rental generator while in bed with fans and air conditioning running (it’s the Florida Keys, y’all. Blistering hot even in October). The Wen, we have to get up and go check to see if it’s still running. Pretty impressive for a much more robust machine.Yes, it’s heavy but it’s a great generator. Absolutely get one! Just make sure to get the protection plan, especially if you plan to use it a lot.

very useful and economical
This power plant is very good, I've had it for a long time, I recommend it, it's quiet, it hardly uses any gasoline and it doesn't heat up during hurricane season. I used it for more than 4 days and it was

Reliable beast during the Texas winter storm. Highly recommend!
Ok, so to preface this, I bought this generator last for Hurricane Season here in Houston, TX. Up until now I had not had a need for it but this week during the unusual winter storm in Texas that left us all without power, we were the lucky ones because of this generator. A few notes I'd like to share:1. I had my fridge, gas furnace and blower, a couple TVs, internet, lights, etc. hooked up and even with the heat blowing the capacity never broke the 20% mark. Plenty of power for all of your needs during a winter event. I do not believe there is enough power in the 3800 Watt unit to power an AC system, but that was of no concern during this event.2. It ran without issue for 30 hours straight and used just over 2 gallons of gas. With the low demand of my uses I kept it in eco mode the whole time.3. It was barely audible on my back patio. Very quiet unit.4. I left it outside before actually needing it for two days in 10-20 degree weather and it started right up. Needed to pull it because the battery was weak from the cold, but having both options is great.A couple thing to note:When it first arrived it would not start at all. The service and parts people were outstanding AND they were Americans who knew their stuff. He had my solution and emailed me repair procedures at my request because I have basic tool skills and was willing to make a quick fix.The spark plug cap broke during shipping, which is apparently more common than it should be, but they sent a replacement out right away and it arrived in just a few days. To be on the safe side I was able to buy one for $4 at a shop and put it on myself, which was easy. SO, if yours doesn't start out of the box, take off the side and check that. Easy fix.My conclusion: started, worked perfectly for a couple days, sips gas, is quiet, and customer service is outstanding. What's not to love? I'm going to be adding their bigger model as well to run my A/C during Houston heat outages, but I'll be sticking with WEN.One other note: I highly recommend, if you're using this for your home, buying a generator transfer switch for your house so you can just plug it in directly to the box and run pre-selected parts of your home. Have a licensed professional do the work.
