Great for adult learners
A great book with a mixture of different style of music and theory around grade 2-3.

Great for adult students.
I would say this is more of a style book than a comprehensive tutor. I'm currently working towards grade 3 and finding the tunes in this grade 3/4 book are just about the right level of challenge for me. I'll hopefully be spending more time on them when my exam's out of the way.Theory and background knowledge are covered in a non-intimidating way but seem to cover a lot of stuff that I've already covered in grades 1 and 2 and not much of what I'm currently learning. That said, the 'workbook' format of this aspect is a very useful way of revising these topics.I think the book would be particularly appealing to the teenage or adult student at this level. It's accessible without being childish and the exercises and pieces are more grown-up in nature - no silly little cartoon pictures or pieces about trains, elephants or wobbly jelly.

Not for the self-taught.
If this book would of been entitled The Intermediate Pianist Book 1 - For Piano Teachers, I would have no complaints, but it's not. Having made my way through beginners books I was looking for somehting intermediate, I saw this and thought it would be ideal, but as soon as I opened the book I realised I was in trouble. The very first piece begins with the heading "...Listen to your teacher play it: what do you notice about each style?" So I've got no idea. I did look to see if, like so many other books of this genre, there was a website accompanying the book where you could listen to the pieces being played. But no, nothing. And to go on, there is quite a lot of theory with questions, but no answers, unless of course you have a piano teacher who can tell you. So as I say, this is not for the self-taught.

Very happy
I am a returning adult learner, my teacher suggested I purchase this. I now understand lots of things I never did as a child now. Love the music and the content.

An excellent resource
This a very well presented book with a wide range of different styles, from classical to boogie. The theory worksheets are very helpful in consolidating basic skills. It is a great resource for GCSE pupils and the engaging, punchy titles appeal to youngsters. I have no hesitation in recommending this splendid book to both learners and teachers.

Teacher led!
Totally agree with the review above in that this book has a strong emphasis on going through the music with a teacher next to you. In this day and age so many people learn (or try to learn) from the internet having online resource to support the printed word is invaluable. I can’t see anything like that with this book. I looked at the first few pages and decided to return it.
