Great pen!
This is my first hooded vacuum pen, and so far the experience has been wonderful. This pen writes incredibly smooth, cleanup is nothing difficult, and it holds a fair amount of ink. I have had no leaks, and have not needed to tune the nib at all. It writes well right out of the box. Incredible pen for the price.

Decent pen for the price.
It's a good pen for $18. It handles nicely and the nib lays down bold lines on paper, closer to a Medium nib than a Fine. The only thing I had to spend some time tinkering with was the hood part of the pen. It doesn't align at all with the nib when it is screwed in all the way so I have to unscrew the hood a bit to align them together. The demonstrator idea is cool but it doesn't work well when the hood doesn't screw in properly. Maybe that's the reason why the ink doesn't really fill out the entire inside but it still looks good.Overall, it's definitely a decent pen for the price and it looks nice. I just got it yesterday though so I'll have to see how it performs in the future.

Great daily - but lacks instruction
So, as a fountain pen novice, when I bought this pen I was expecting - well, I'm not sure what I was expecting. I guess I was hoping for some instructions on how best to fill the piston, as well as some general instruction, but none were found. Thankfully, there were a few videos on this pen in Youtube. This was quite literally my first dip into the fountain pen world and I'm so very happy with what I chose as my first pen. I couldn't have chosen a better entry level pen. This Wing Sung 618 with the fine nib is probably the smoothest pen with which I've ever written, but again, I'm no expert in pens. After using this pen for over a year, there has never been any scratchiness or noticeable feedback in my fingers. It's as smooth as the day I first started using it - and no matter which ink I use - from Noodler's to Lamy - they all worked remarkably well in this pen.Yes, I've had other pens and favorites, but for some reason I keep coming back to this one. I have it in my bag, ready to go no matter the situation. It's never failed me unless I was out of ink.The only thing I've really found to be a problem is the build up in the cap. I've cleaned it many times and within days it seems to have an ink-film in the cap. Otherwise - no complaints.

Writes wet and very well
Worth the money. But Chinese wingsung doesn’t compare to TWSBI or Lammy.Toothy and has a sweet spot.

Excellent daily pen
I purchased this pen about a year and a half ago, and it has been amazing. I also purchased a set of 5 spare nibs--my intention was to grind a special profile onto one. The nibs are incredibly small, and quite fine too, so that has not been a successful endeavor yet. This pen worked great right out of the box. Figuring the fill mechanism took a little patience but was reasonable. Assembly/ disassembly is a little trickier, but only because with the hooded nib, it generally takes a couple tries to get the nib and hood aligned. And it holds a ton of ink. As with nearly all fountain pens, getting a full fill is generally a two step process. But we aren't using fountain pens because they're the essence of simplicity; if a little fuss isn't worthwhile, grab a Bic. With a full barrel, the 618 will last me weeks as my primary at-work desk pen. Whether extensive meeting notes, purchasing lists, or quick tallies or check marks, this is a great pen for any writing task. The fully hooded nib prevents the ink from drying quickly, so short breaks between notes are not a problem, and the twist cap is easy on, easy off. The ink flow is dead-on perfect for these fine nibs, so you can write forever, too.Great pen--hard to go wrong here.

It leaks
Nice demonstrator design. Writes well using Diamine Blue Velvet. Did not write well at all with Herbin Stormy Grey. After letting the pen sit over night, it leaked into the cap- and a significant amount as well. For $17, you apparently get what you pay for. For a couple dollars more, the Pilot MR is a terrific low cost alternative.

Fountain pen with large ink capacity
This is a built-in piston pen (and a large capacity one at that!) so one cannot use cartridges with it. I absolutely love that this pen has such large capacity to hold ink as I write a lot! It also writes very smoothly. I have no problems with mine from day one. However, I did gift my sister with one but she was not able to use it as the ink did not flow well and was scratchy for her to write, even after emptying the ink from the chamber several times. I ordered another one for her and it seems to work perfectly well. I'd definitely order more of these pens (both for myself and as gifts).

An excellent pen at a great price Highly recommended.
This pen is an excellent value for the money. It is a bit of a wet writer out of the box, and I would consider it a European "fine" (as opposed to a Japanese "fine", which is a thinner line). Perhaps surprisingly, I would rank the quality of this pen to be nearly on par with that of the Parker 51 upon which it is obvious partially based. Like the Parker 51, the 618's hooded nib means that it does not easily dry out. That makes it an excellent choice for situations where you would leave the pen uncapped for a few minutes at a time, such as taking notes during a lecture or in a meeting.I keep mine inked with Noodler's Gruene Cactus Eel, and use it for signing receipts and such. It lives clipped to the outside of my laptop bag, a use for which I wouldn't be willing to trust many pens that cost several times as much. For background, the Wing Sung brand is owned by Hero, and is used under license by several companies. The Wing Sung 618 is manufactured by Shanghai Green Stationery, which also produces the Wing Sung 698. Both of these are excellent pens, and suggest to me that someone at SGS is serious about building a reputation for quality. What this pen is not, is a direct clone of the Parker 51. The nib is very similar, but slightly smaller in diameter; a vintage Parker nib will not fit this pen without modification. The cap seems to draw inspiration from the Sailor 1911, and the piston-filling mechanism appears to be unique to SGS and nearly identical to that of the 698.
