If you're going to get one, you might as well get 4 and have some on hand when you want to get just one more betta (they're like chips, you can't have just one)! Great for fry tanks and shrimp tanks too! You can also use them in conjunction with a hang-on-back filter on any size tank for extra oxygenation and biological filtration. None of my bettas have ever minded a sponge filter - it creates bubbles but no current. Totally eliminates surface film that forms on still water. This size fits in the palm of my hand at about the size of a plum. At less than $3 a piece and Prime shipping from the U.S., what's not to love?.

I use these tiny 5 gallon sponge filters in my 2 gallon nano shrimp tanks. They are easy to hide behind plants and driftwood. I do not use the lift tube or modify them for air stones like some people insist on. I appreciate the large bubbles moving the top water promoting gas exchange. My shrimp are healthy, happy and I find the fine sponges covered with shrimplets every morning.I also retrofitted another dozen of them with high quality 30ppi sponges for the big tanks. They work in this case like a glorified air stone features without the risk of clogging and burning out my air pumps (something air stones are famous for). Also air stone bubbles sound unnatural to me and cause more evaporation.These sponge filters are exactly the same as the Aquapapa 3 pack. They cost less and I got 4 instead of 3. They are xy branded sponges in either case. Wish I'd tried these first for the cost difference. Will buy again.

I’m new to being a Betta fish owner and I hated the filter that my 3 gallon tank came with. So I made the switch to this filter and so far so good. My Betta is doing great and it’s nice not having the other filter all in my way. I do have the old filter in the tank to keep that good bacteria going while the new sponge filter takes over.

These are tiny, very tiny. Of course, it tells the measurements, so if you actually LOOK at a ruler, then you'll be prepared :) I didn't. They are still great though. I use two in a heavily planted 10g betta tank (and no HOB filter). I use one of these, plus a larger one, in another 10G tank with a few guppies and (usually) nerite snails. No complaints here, I just wish the foam was a bit denser.

It’s a sponge filter. Yes. Like any other. But they are very well made. High quality, nice sponges, nice and heavy base. Not cheap plastic at all. They are small just exactly like I’d hoped for my nano tanks. I’m using two in a 5.5 gallon aqueon tank with a divider in the middle. One filter in each side.Will definitely be buying more as I add more small tanks to my collection. I use the small tanks with dividers for my Betta collection.

I love the value, and these sponge filters have quite some weight to it. I was disappointed at first because they're quite small, but they get the job done. You can use it for anything. I used it for a 20G LONG divided betta tank and these do not take up too much space from each divided space. Small but MIGHTY. My water is crystal clear.

Perfect, except for the fact the tube that comes with these filters did not fit in, or over the filter tube. I had to cut a slit done the the tube that comes with these and then jammed it in my existing filter tube. After that, everything works fine.

In the description the height dimension they give is with the clear plastic tube.. Sponge is only 1.8" tall. I was planning to just use two in my 17g planted tank, but since they are so tiny, i am able to run all 4 of them in different spots and keep them hidden behind rocks and driftwood. Awesome!
