Very good bright light but did not like ,you have to have light on to charge your shaver

I had high hopes of this unit and indeed it looked fine. But and it’s a big but the instructions made it clear that it shouldn’t be used to charge toothbrushes, which is what we wanted it for. So it was returned. Amazon return was, as usual, fuss free and fast.

Having to replace my shaving light in the bathroom the connections and drilled fixing holes I wondered where I could locate my original of 30 years old, then trawling through Amazon I found an exact replica this Eterna dual voltage bathroom shaving light, The connections and fixing holes were as before so replaced on the tiles within 30 minuets, delighted.

Nice looking fitment. Great Quality & a Good Light!BUT!!!This is very difficult to fit, especially on to a tiled brick wall even for a fully qualified Electrician, because You can't push the spare cable back into the wall & there is very little space inside the unit for it allEven worse than this is if there is more than one 3 wire cable coming out of the wall. IE.A loop In system used in some UK Homes.The 'very small' entry hole in this unit is off center on this back plate, which btw in itself is very fiddly to fix on to the unit after the has been wired.Also the mains feed on most of these types of lights come into the middle of the unit when placed centrally above a sink or a mirror etc.Also, be careful not to snap either of the 2 longer plastic pins on the diffuser when fitting or removing it, as the unit needs the diffuser clipped on before the lamp will work & if either of these are snapped off the unit becomes useless.

Arrived swiftly despite Royal Mail.Why Eterna could not use the same fixing centres as their previous equivalent which this one replaces is beyond me.As others have noted, the cable entry is far too small and probably in the wrong place. If you make a cut-out in the paxolin backing sheet for a decent cable entry, beware: the material splits readily. Better to drill (with a hole saw) or at least outline-drill before attempting to cut.Wiring and mounting is at least a three-handed job.The previous model had to be replaced only because the mounting bosses both gave way - and the new one has the same arrangement. Do not over-tighten mounting screws. The screws supplied have enlarged heads which is essential to spread load on the bosses but are not long enough for a good grip to the wall. It would be tempting to use pan-head screws of suitable gauge and length with washers.This unit will apparently accept both LED and filament lamps (up to 60W). There does not appear to be a thermistor to protect the transformer so do not overload - 20VA (approx 20W) max.
