Sizing guesswork? Yeah, me too... But at 5;5"/135lbs - here's what I got and why!
First - this is my first pair of "real" bike shorts with padding, and I absolutely love them!! For most of my rides I'm fine without, but I find that with hillwork or trying out singletrack riding the shorts are definitely the way to go! So there's that...As for the padding - I saw a couple of people say they felt like diapers. Not my experience at all. It was barely noticeable. Now that said - I'm guessing it depends on your build. I am 5'5", 135 lbs, and pretty "athletic" in frame. I have a straight bust to hip line, meaning I am not super curvy in the waist. I have a fairly flat rear, and at 50 years old I am very fit but have definitely lost some of my natural padding. Again - the padded shorts are a big help for sure. I love them, and am buying another pair right now!Ok... now on the whole sizing issue. I had a really hard time discerning sizing from the chart and the wide variety of sizing reviews. Again, I'm petitish, fitish, and compact. My normal pant size is a 6, small, but that can vary depending on the style and maker. After MUCH reading, reading, and re-reading I went with the medium. The medium shorts are just fine. They are not tight, and also not loose. They fit against my skin with no slippage or bunching and were comfortable during the ride.I do think I could have gone with a small if looking for slightly more compression fit, but I'm sticking with the medium on the 2nd pair as well. My "size" does fluctuate across the month, so I don't want to have days where these pinch or bind.Again, you need to read the reviews carefully, but also consider your shape and your fit preference. I do not like tight clothing. I do not like to feel anything I am wearing! ha! So at 5'5", compact body with a fit/athletic build (I do yoga 1-2 x week, ride 3-7 miles 2-3 x week, and walk about 2 miles a week), 50 years (meaning there is natural gravity effect!), straight build without much waist indentation and moderate hips/rear.... I got a Medium and am getting a second pair in this size.

The most helpful review you'll read
Tried on a pair of name brand IQ shorts at the store. They were $80 and "ok" in terms of comfort. So I passed and my boyfriend (advid mtb-er) said to look online as this will be my FIRST time biking.Fast forward; I found these. The size I tried on at the store (in the I brand) was a large.I read ALL of the reviews for these and some said they run so small. Others said fit great. So I took a chance and ordered the size I tried on. Large.I am 5'5 and 155lbs. I have a 34" waist and larger thighs (the thing every girl hates) these shorts are FANTASTIC! they fit perfectly. Just snug enough to stay on and be slimming enough to fit UNDER a pair of leggings (pictured) but they don't cut off circulation in my thighs AND they don't roll up from my thighs being "bigger" than my waist. The padding is just right (from what I can tell. Haven't used them on a bike yet) and again, doesn't look obviously bulky under yoga pants/leggings.

Very good, even for a fat girl!
Love these shorts. Fit great. I’m 235lbs and love how high these come up on my waist. The legs stay in place and the shorts are overall invisible under a pair of capris. Decent padding. Doesn’t feel too much like a diaper but has enough to keep me comfortable. I would recommend these

Do Not Size Up!
I bought these for my first long distance ride - 22 miles. I needed comfort and padding for the distance AND the hills! I listened to the other reviewers (I shouldn’t have) and sized up to a size Medium instead of my usual size Small. I am 5’4 and 125lbs. I wear a size 4 shorts/jeans. Cycle shorts are supposed to be fitted and snug. If you size up like I did, it defeats the purpose of the foam padding. If they’re too big, your padding is not positioned as it should be. Bummer! I did okay on my ride but from now on, I’m sticking with my normal size.

Good for beginner riders.
Good for beginner riders who sit upright with up right handlebars. The padding of these shorts is more at the rear end, making it good for those who sit upright. The padding is much lighter in the middle and toward the front, and the pants are not so good for bikers who have drop down handlebars and who lean forward and who are series bikers..

The padding is nice and thick
I am 5'9" and a size 12. I got the xl and they fit very well. They are a little snug at the bottom. However, they stay in place and don't ride up while biking. The padding is nice and thick. Great for a long ride. I will probably purchase them in another color. Overall good quality for a good price.

This helped my butt!
This is the first pair of bike shorts I have ever purchased. I have been hesitant to buy bike shorts as I thought they would make me feel uncomfortable and awkward. However the pain in my nether regions after even a short bike ride prompted me to finally take the plunge.I decided on this particular brand , purely based on other reviews.I am approximately 5'10 and 170 pounds, most of my unwanted weight is in my gut area. I ordered an xlarge , based on size chart and others input. They fit great, I probably could have gotten away with a large , as they do stretch out a little bit, but I prefer a looser fit over too snug. The padding does take some getting used to, but that's to be expected. The most importantl take away is that the padding and shorts have made a noticeable difference, during and after my bike rides.I went on a 15 mile ride yesterday and I had no discomfort anywhere, which is wonderful as now I feel confident that I can ride farther and not worry about any pain in those areas. Also, the product arrived in very nice packaging. My only small complaint, which I believe others had, is that the band around the legs can be a little too tight. That can be easily remedied though, so not a deal breaker for me.I would definitely not hesitate to buy another pair of shorts or similar products from this company.

Not for those with low self-esteem
I bought a pair of these shorts and yes, they are probably a size too small, but I'm on my way to losing weight. However, my muffin top and Kardashian ass aside, the pattern of the mesh is not very flattering at all if you have larger thighs. It basically creates a circle around your... lady bits. It makes you look wider than you are. Now, looks aside, these shorts so far are a good deal. The material breathes well, the gel along the leg keeps them from riding up and the chamoise is decent for light to moderate riding. To replace some more expensive pairs of cycling shorts I've worn out, I am very happy with them. I even bought another pair. That should tell you something.

Works for the price.
Got the size based on size chart. Possibly could have gone down a size, I am at the in between could go either way. Went for a 36km bike ride, the padding helped. Good value for the money, given bike shorts in stores cost a lot more. Would buy again.

Pleased with improved comfort
Fit: Based on other reviews I ordered the extra large. I am 5ft 2 (and a half!) and weigh 140 lbs, I have pretty straight thighs but some 'tummy weight'. These fitted me really well, not tight, the legs are a great length and don't rise up as I cycle (indoor rides 1 hr typically). The padding seems reasonable, I ride forward and it doesn't seem to bunch up or cause any irritation, its about right for me, any thicker and it would be too much. Pretty happy with these, I would purchase again.

Good short but needs a bit more padding in the front
Decent cycling short. I found the legs fit for me pretty well. I know alot of reviews stated the legs were too large compared to waist size, which I could definitely see being an issue but I have quite big thighs. The padding is nice and thick ar the back so good for commuter bikes but I wish there was more padding towards the front since I ride leaning forward and I find it a bit thin. Overall happy with them for shorter rides.
