XYZPrinting Open Smart Tag

Why don’t 3D printers ever seem to finish their meals? Because they always leave a little bit of “room” for the Open Smart Tag! It’s the perfect dessert, making your XYZPrinting 3D Printer compatible with 3rd party filament. Now that’s a tasty upgrade! 😄 Corny joke but very true. I recently purchased the Open Smart Tag for my XYZPrinting 3D Printer and I must say, it’s a game-changer. This little device has opened up a world of possibilities for my 3D printing projects. The Open Smart Tag is compatible with 3rd party filament, which is a huge plus. It means I’m no longer limited to the filament offered by XYZPrinting. I can now experiment with a variety of materials from different manufacturers, expanding the scope of my projects. One of the things I love about the Open Smart Tag is how easy it is to install. It’s literally plug-and-play. I was able to get it up and running in no time, and it’s been working flawlessly ever since. But what truly sets the Open Smart Tag apart is its compatibility with open-source 3D printers. This means I can tweak and customize my printer settings to my heart’s content, allowing me to fine-tune my prints for optimal results. Additionally, I purchased a real stand for the filament. This ensures that the counter never counts down, providing uninterrupted operation and peace of mind. It's a small addition that makes a big difference. Since I started using the Open Smart Tag, the quality of my prints has improved significantly. I’ve been able to achieve finer details and smoother finishes, which has taken my 3D printing projects to the next level. In conclusion, if you’re looking to unlock the full potential of your XYZPrinting 3D Printer, I highly recommend the Open Smart Tag. Paired with a real stand, it’s a small investment that delivers big returns. Happy printing!

For the price of two spools you can use any spool you want, the instructions are out-dated though and with my printer it's a little IFy There are "other" methods of getting filaments working for this terrible brand of DRM always online printers but I'm a man of integrity and would like to do the moral route for the best outcome. As I mentioned the instructions are outdated, as of the 2023 software version, you need to click on the question mark on the filament button a second time, to register a smart tag, I also had to plug in the printer to register as I continually got the "printer reacted too slow" error. Additionally I have a nano W, which is not build to take 1kg spools, the included spool was 300kg (dude wth) and they sell 600kg spools here on Amazon for $45, on the site they are $25 with shipping, so getting this little thing is costing me two spools but worth it in the end since I can source 3rd party filament for almost nothing. Anyhow this printer can't hold 1kg spools they are too wide, so you need to hang the printer off a table, and bend the power cable to use this flat OR do what I did and using a filament box, and the spool you were gonna throw away, raise the whole unit so it can stay in the same place Also the first party filament is terrible I can't say it here but I would describe it as a single phrase which rhymes with "dog + spit" it comes loosely bound, always breaks, always jams, always spungles, always gets knotted and snaps or fails to feed. You pretty much need 3rd party filaments and need this product or the easily Google-able work around that needs only a phone to register your included filament. Update: giving this a zero star as the main printer I bought this for bricked itself by causing its hotend module to explode after a firmware update, thus making this a fruitless endeavor since you can only register to a single printer, and apparently after a firmware this piece of garbage thinks it's a new printer as well so it became useless, this is the only way I can seek penance now that the return window is closed (it seemed to have known when to explode im literally a day late)

Works great. Enables me to print with 3rd party filaments. Has been in use with no issues for over a year.

Now I can use different brands and types of filament without having to modify the printer, I'm no longer stuck to only using XYZ filament that now is almost impossible to get

This was simple to set up & use. As soon as I got it, registered it, began using it. No problems with 3rd party filaments.

So I am excited to finally use this so I don't have to used exact filiment for my printer. I followed the instructions to attach the roll of filiment to it so I can hang it off the printer and the pictures show the results. The rolls it fits are too wide and the screw to keep the two halfs together is way too short so I will need to find a longer screw to fit. The rolls that the hole is too big? Well it will need to go on the external holder and leave this on the printer and let it think its the filiment it needs. I even tried the 1/4 size rolls and yep the roll is too small bit will hang on it but loosely. So far all my rolls don't work with this but it still does when I sit it on an external roller. May now completely work like it needs to but hey atleast I now have a variety of filiment from my other printers I can use on it. Hope you have Better Luck with yours and works on your rolls you have to hang. Maybe I need a mod for this mod to work. Hmmm

Do not buy! I would give this 0 stars if I could! I bought this in the hopes that I could finally use other filament for my daVinci mini w printer. I received the item and it will not work! It states the serial number for the tag is not valid. After some researching, I discovered this is a very common issue with most printers it’s used on and especially with my model of printer. It does not work for most people who buy the product. I think it’s related to the firmware updates not recognizing the device tag itself existing. After more research, I learned they are going out of business at the end of this year so there is no hope for customer support. When I tried to return it, it magically stated it was not eligible for return even though when I bought it over a month ago, it was. I would also recommend you start saving for a new printer because I would imagine they will quit producing their own filament which is the only kind that works on these printers. I just want to save anyone from getting ripped off like I did because this is 50$ down the drain and a massive headache!

Work perfect with XYZ DaVinci Color Mini.

They're just using this to charge us for about 2 1/2 spools so they can comp some of what they would have made if their proprietary filament system attempt had worked out the way they intended it. That being said, it *does* work, and pretty hassle free at that. I'm just making a point to never buy XYZprint branded filament now, since they've now made me buy this in order to use a multi-spool pack I got as a gift. Lol
