Works Well - plays music and speech with recorder jacked in!
When my Aurora Master Ocean Relax Projector Pot Music arrived, the first thing I did was set in the middle of the floor on a TV Tray to project the waves over my 16x24x12 ft. high pitched ceiling. Turned on some Classical Music and I was in Awe as I laid back in my recliner and watched the succession of changing colors as they projected over the entire ceiling! My ceiling is divided into sections by dark wood beams that didn't pick up the color waves and gave the effect of looking thru a succession of sky-lite windows as if I was looking at the Aurora Borealis. However, it only lasted for an hour and then shuts off automatically. (Safety Feature but annoying.)Cons:Well after about a 3 months of use, I noticed My Waves weren't moving anymore... Just a steady beam of coloring changing lights on the ceiling. It seemed the rocker part inside the unit became dislodged and all movement was now just a calm sea. OK, I can fix that? NOT ! I can't figure out how to re-insert the rocker panel that creates the waves.. I know it should go back together, but it won't stay in position? After ample attempts to get it to work properly, I gave up. So here is what I did. I took off the globe, attached some Velcro to the bottom of the lamp and stuck it to the ceiling over my bar for additional lighting that shines down on my bar.. Works Great as the lights still change colors! BUT, Now that it is upside down, the gears that rotate the wheel do not mesh so well and there is this most annoying noise like, " Eeerre, Humm, Eeerre, Berrerreer, Haaa, Ehe Ehe Woouo " and it drives me crazy! Sometimes I think its trying to talk to me....? My solution was to just turn up my Black Sabbath music! I had to, I think I was starting to understand what it was saying....? Anyway, I still love it and will buy another one soon. Oh, BTW, for those of you who are wondering about the music it can play, you have to jack in a system from any type of music player and it works, but it just sounds like a transistor radio. Hope this review helps and put a smile on your face ... ;-}

Details you may be wondering about
it does what it says. For the low price i don't think you could really expect much more than what you get. Rather than go over my opinion or feelings about it, i'll just state some facts that I was curious about when i purchased to help ppl understand what theyre getting better:-It can be powered by 4 double-AA batteries OR through a power cable. The power cable has a round plug end that you connect to the back of the lamp and a full-size USB end that plugs into a wall wart thing, or you could plug it into a nearby computer (what i did)-There are 3 colors of lights in the lamp: Red, blue and green. There are 4 LEDs for each colors. These LEDs are below specially-cut piece of plastic that tilts side to side to distort the lightwaves and create the wave rippl eeffect on the ceiling. There is a button that will toggle through different combinations of said LEDs. When you first turn it on, it will have all 12 of the LEDS all lit up, so the effect will be a very rainbow-ish multicolor deal. The next 2 settings seem to just be ones that cycle through all the colors in different ways, which will briefly create additional colors (like purple when the red and blue fade into eachother) and the setting after this one will just rapidly and abruptly change from red to green to blue with no transition between the two (very unpleasant imo).After these multi-color settings, you have a red-only, blue only and green only setting you can choose from, which is what i normally go with. Unfortunately, since there are only 4 of each color, these settings will not come out as bright as the ones that mix the colors together, but still bright enough when youre in a dark room of course.- Coverage. It WILL cover your entire ceiling, under the right circumstances. People who complained about this must not understand the basic principles of how light beams travel. In order for the light to cover the entire ceiling in your room, you will need to have it low enough/far enough away from the ceiling for the light to be able to spread out. If you have high ceilings and/or place this lamp near the floor, you'll be set. If you have low ceilings however, or if you put this up on a tall dresser or some other elevated platform, it will only cover part of the ceiling. Theres no way around this, its just how projection works! If they would have made the angle any wider the light would probably be projecting off to the sides so much that itt would be directly in peoples eyes, and thats not very relaxing, is it?I cant comment on the music/speakers side of things, as i have yet to use this feature and probably never will since I have a separate stereo for music

Good if you know what you're paying for
If you've seen these before, they're pretty neat. Projects some trippy 3D-looking wave patterns on the ceiling with various color modes. After seeing one at a friend's house I fell in love and had to have it.I gave 4 stars because this is not a high quality item. The speaker is junk, the LEDs are good but not bright enough to really be seen except in a dark room (some may consider this an advantage in a nightlight), it likely won't actually run off of batteries (included AC adapter works fine), and the Aurora master is prone to breaking fairly easily in a couple of different ways (gear failure/noise, LEDs going out, etc.) That said, I knew what I was paying for and I'm satisfied with my purchase. Mine is working great for now, I will update this review if/when that changes.Works great as a night light to keep next to my bed so that I don't stumble while going from the light switch next to the door to bed. Pretty relaxing and awesome if you're into staring at ceilings. I'd say this is a fairly unique and cool item in this price range.As a note, I'd be willing to bet all of the varieties of these "wave projectors" sold on Amazon all come from the same manufacturer (probably chinese) and that they're just rebranded under different names by various distrubutors. I would go with the cheapest one unless you really trust one distributor more than another.
