783DC

We’ve had at least half a dozen Vornado’s over the years- there’s just nothing else like them if you’re really wanting to move some air! We run 2 smaller versions of this year round (6 years and still going strong) on a 16’ ledge (see my photos) to help move air and make the temperature feel more comfortable in summer, winter and all the times between. They’re reliable (as long as you clean them periodically, especially if you use them a lot like we do). This one is probably one of the loudest we’ve had… LOUD! So keep that in mind depending on where you plan to put it. You’d never be able to have this on high power hear a television in the same room unless you were wearing headsets. That said, this thing is quite the powerhouse when it comes to moving and circulation. We have a small hallway that separates the master bedroom from the master bathroom… the bathroom and hallway are always the perfect temperature, but during the summer, our bedroom stays several (3-4) degrees warmer than the rest of the house. We tried installing a wireless thermostat, but because there are so many windows in the bedroom, it just didn’t work. We used ChatGPT (🤭)to come up with a solution to get more of the cooler air from the bathroom and hallway into the bedroom, and this was one of the suggestions. Being familiar (very familiar!) with the Vornado brand, we went with it. I will say that the stand not only looks awkward, it just IS awkward. Obviously it doesn’t affect the function of the fan, but it doesn’t have a streamlined look (personal preference ). It also makes it more of a hassle to move when needed, and since we have it in a small hallway, we have to move it often. It’s fairly heavy, but definitely not a monstrosity. The adjustability of direction is fairly good- keep in mind that these fans do not oscillate back and forth- they are stationary. The circulation and no one from the tornado effect and the power behind it. It pulls in massive amounts of air and forces it it to ‘bounce’ off of the facing wall /corner/ceiling. If you have high ceilings and can’t get a regular ceiling fans to bring warm air down, this would definitely help (pointed upwards to the ceiling) to brings all the warm are that rises back down. There really is no installation- just place it and plug it in. The power cord is completely separate from the fan (see my photos) which has proven many times to be a real convenience. Bottom line- I definitely recommend this fan AND the brand itself. They have many models varying in size and power, depending on your needs. Just remember that these are not quite whispering fans … they’re powerful and you can tell it when you hear it! Fortunately, you can choose the speed/ power by simply turning the dial, and while a lower setting will obviously be a little quieter than than full power, it’s still fairly loud compared to others on the market. That said, it’s really comparing apples to oranges when it comes to comparing this to other fans. The closest thing would be a utility fan BUT they’re not nearly as energy efficient as Vornado and our experience has been that they don’t even come close to lasting as long. If you’re still unsure, choose one that qualifies as an Amazon Prime item, and if you plug it in and aren’t blown away (🤭) you can pack it right back up and return it.

Okay first off, you probably should not use this as a regular pedestal fan. This fan moves more air than its 900+ cfm would suggest. The air coming from this fan (okay, air circulator) does not buffet, it's a steady stream of wind. Or, you could buy this for a very quiet low-energy fan for a living room or bedroom. As long as the power knob is under 75% or so, it does not make much noise. Above that however, it's what you'd expect from a fan running at its maximum speed. The knob is on the back of the fan, and is adjustable for as little or as much as you want from 0-100. No more 3 settings! With that out of the way, I love to have a breeze on me in bed and our old fan died on us. The bearings wore out on the old one so I was looking for a replacement. Besides the price, this fan looked like it would do everything I asked of it. It'll tolerate being run all day and all night due to the ball bearings, the power consumption is really low (a claimed 60W at full power, which I almost never use), and it's super quiet. More importantly, this fan produces a serious breeze. And the 10 year warranty is a huge plus, though I'd expect something like that given the asking price. So far, I've had this Vornado propped up on a box so it'll reach our bed (the standard height is about 40 inches, not enough for a pillowtop). This fan has been running more or less nonstop since we bought it about 8 months ago. Other than it could use a cleaning, it still functions just as perfectly as the day we got it. For that, I'd definitely give this model a recommendation. Fun fact: Vornado used to be some sort of turbine engine manufacturer, and this air circulator at times does sound like a (very quiet) jet engine. The only things I can nitpick on this fan are: 1) The power connector comes disconnected easily. Even a kitten could pull it out with no issue. 2) Even though this is an excellent fan, it might be a hard sell at that price. 3) The range of movement is limited, such that (at least mine) does not like to point up. Something probably just needs to be tightened slightly.

Functionality: The airflow is fully adjustable from mild breeze to full output, with a variable speed dial at the rear of the fan housing. Stand assembly is simple (2 hex bolts with wrench included), with an option to omit a segment if full height not needed. The weight of the product is not excessive. With a ten-year warranty, the build quality is obviously superb. Stability of the fan on various types of flooring is not an issue, the base forms a wide stance. No remote control function is available, but that could be changed with attaching a third-party switch on the power cord. Thorough cleaning of the fan body is simple, the fan housing grill clips easily detach with assistance of a flat-head screwdriver, and the blade is totally removable. I am very happy with the purchase, and would recommend. The only downside I noted is the sound volume at full fan speed, but this is somewhat expected with the high volume of air being moved.

I picked up the Vornado 783DC, and it’s quickly become my favorite fan in the house. The airflow on this thing is seriously impressive—it easily moves air across an entire room and keeps everything feeling cooler without blasting you directly in the face like a cheaper fan. The variable speed control is also a huge plus; instead of just a few set levels, you can dial it in exactly where you want it, from whisper-quiet circulation to a strong, room-filling breeze. I also like that the height is adjustable, which makes it really versatile. I can set it lower for the living room or raise it higher if I want to move air above furniture. Even at higher speeds, it’s quieter than I expected for how much air it moves, and honestly it’s the quietest fan I’ve ever owned. Being a DC model, it’s also energy efficient, which gives me peace of mind since it runs for long stretches in the summer. Overall, it’s a powerful, versatile fan that’s built to last and does a far better job than any standard pedestal or box fan I’ve owned.

This review is for the Vornado 783DC Circulator Fan, just putting that since there are multiple products on the page. This thing is pretty impressive. It has a very solid construction, and you can definitely feel how high quality it is. The fan housing is plastic, but it's a very thick, solid plastic. I really think you could throw this thing onto the ground, and it would just bounce; it's beefy. The knob on the back that controls the speed is smooth, so it's not like some fans where it "clicks" for power level 1, power level 2, etc. It is a smooth turning motion that revs up or slows down the fan, and as with the rest of the fan, it feels high quality. Performance-wise, it moves a surprising amount of air. You can turn it on and point it at any area of a room, and you will 100% feel the air circulating around you, even on a lower setting. I have used some circulators that don't work that well unless on max speeds, but that's not the case here. It is fairly quiet up to around 50% percent, but any higher and it does start to ramp up in volume. On max speed, it is incredibly loud, pretty much drowning out most sounds in a smaller room, so this could be a benefit if you plan on using it while sleeping for the white noise. One small complaint I had about it was the height. I had assumed it would be adjustable to be a bit taller, but at 38" tall, it's fairly short. It is adjustable, but only to make it shorter, pretty much down to a table fan height. You also cannot move it left and right, only tilt up and down, which I feel is a bit silly on a fan this price. Overall, I am sort of torn. I think it's a wonderful solid product, but at $189.99 at the time of purchase and review, I sort of feel it's possibly overpriced. It's a great product, but the price is fairly steep. Price aside, though, it's a very nice circulator fan with amazing energy efficiency!

We’ve had this unit for over 2 years. Performs flawlessly and impressive air flow. It’s able to keep air moving well in our 2 storey foyer, keeping our second floor cool. Love that it is energy efficient, quiet, and made in USA. It also looks great.

I've had this fan for a year now, so I decided to do my civic duty and write a review. I use fans to move air around the house in the summer, and they run almost constantly during hot weather. I have other large Vornado circulators, the 783, the 7803, and the 293. The volume and velocity of air moved seems slightly less than the 293 and more than the 783 and 7803. It runs quieter than the 293, and is about equal to the 783 and 7803. The pedestal is more stable than the 783. I like the 783DC a lot, but it has a couple quirks: The variable switch could use some improvement. The off position is at about the 7 o'clock position, and the knob is turned clockwise to the maximum setting at about 5 o'clock. There is very little difference in air output between OFF and the 3 o'clock position, and the speed ramps up quickly only within the last 20% of the dial arc. There is an AC to DC power brick, with a cord that plugs into a wall outlet and a cylindrical DC plug which is inserted under the motor housing. The DC plug can be pulled out rather easily when the fan is moved, which is annoying. I would buy this fan again, because I like the improved power efficiency and adjustable speed. If you don't care about saving energy or don't plan to run the fan long enough for it to make a significant difference, or if you are OK with 3 preset speeds, buy the 7803. If you want to blast a narrow cone of high velocity air and don't mind a bit more noise, buy the 293.

I love it but it is good when on full power. Fortunately, the loadness is great because my husband works nights and sleeps durning the day. I like putting this either in the bedroom near his nightstand while he is sleeping. The fan is very loud but it's an consistent noise that blocks out the noice we are making in the house. It makes it easier for him to not be awakened while allowing us to not have to tip toe around as much. I am new to using Vornado fans. Previously turned off by price and lack of knowledge of why this fan would be any different than a $20 oscillating fan. Ugh, I wish I would have educated myself years ago. I hate the heat and I hate the breeze of a fan blowing directly in me, not to mention how irritating it is when it blows around paper. The Vornado fans are awesome and I am so much more productive around the house. Before I was only get relief from the heat while I was in front of the fan, now I don't feel any breeze at all because the breeze is divided into multiple directions instead of 1 concentrated direction. I am able to move throughout the entire Livingroom, kitchen, entrance/hall and the temperature is consistent throughout the entire area. Also it has a lot of power where I can also place it on the basement landing and it easily blows the cold basement air up into our open concept upstairs.

Awesome fan, highly recommend it

Only flaw is huge noise

Great product, met my ecxpectations. Great and responsive Customer service.

The best fan I have ever bought, but if it could be taller would be great.
