Q: Setup : does the manufacture provide any setup information besides 18000 rpm max? feed rate, plunge rate..etc.

I purchased mine and all I could locate for feeds and speeds was a suggestion to NOT run it over 18,000 rpm. So through some trial and error I found the following to work well, have good chip load and no burning. Soft woods- feed rate- 150 in pm, cut depth- 0.015, stepover- 45% Hardwood- feed rate- 100 in pm, cut depth 0.010 and step over 30%. Those have worked good as a starting point and then I increase or decrease each job based on visual and what I hear the bit doing. Hope that gives you a good starting point, good luck.

Q: Can I use this in a hand held router to flatten redwood slabs?

That’s what I got it for, if you build a jig to set the router on, you can set the depth of the bit and make several passes to get the desired thickness of the board or slab you’re workin on.

Q: can this be used to cut a " dado in a 2x4 with a plunge router?

Keep in mind this is only a 1/4" shank bit and must not be used to cut to much material at one time. Take it slow and easy.
