Are these food safe? Would like to put in my spice jars.

what is the best for jewlery ?

A few of these packets would be best used for storage alongside metal jewelry, since moisture causes metal to corrode and tarnish. You may also want to put them with glass jewelry if you live in an area where humidity and temperature fluctuate a lot during the year. Just remember to change out the packets once a year. Not recommended to store with jewelry or accessories made of wood or leather, as it could cause them to dry out or crack.

Are the gels packed into smaller quantities so the big pack of 100 doesn't have to be opened all at once?

No, all 100 packets in a sealed bag.

Can you use these for shoes in shoe boxs?

In fact that's what I use them for...to avoid spoilage of shoes due to humidity.
