Prudence: Choose Confidently, Live Boldly

So, I’m not finished with the book yet, but obviously the work is fantastic and illuminating so far as expected, honestly I just wanted to review this as quick as possible because I know Fr. Pine will read this and I just wanted to say Fr. Gregory Pine, thank you for your Apostolate and Ministry. Your Godsplaining Podcast is a HUGE reason I converted from atheism to Catholicism in August of 2021!!! I owe you multiple high fives!!! God Bless you!PS to anyone reading this: by the book!!!!

Gregory Pine's book will show you were prudence is ordered in the virtuous life. Since there are four cardinal virtuous and three theological virtues--seven all together--Pine sketches a simple picture of their relationship with one another, to show us how we ought to think about them. Pine focuses on Prudence, and his reason, I think--and what I admire about this book--is to teach the overly careful or hesitant decision maker to see their life in the light of...well, reality. Another plus about Pine's book: it explains the complexities of human action through analogies, or stories, which make its knowledge easier to understand.

Prudence doesn't necessarily sound like the most exciting topic at first blush. However, Fr. Pine presents an excellence argument as to why it is a crucial virtue, all while providing practical steps that anyone can implement in their own life to grow in this virtue. Fr. Pine breaks everything down into manageable, understandable chunks, without watering the information down.

Fr Gregory Pine has completed the necessary and beautiful work of highlighting Prudences thoughtful role amongst the virtues. If you're looking for a good natured, accessible, and practical book on the moral virtues then this the book for you.

Prudence by Father Gregory Pine is exactly what is needed. A good life needs boundaries and right choices, this book is very direct and clear for this.

Fr Gregory Pine writes with such understanding. It almost feels like you are just having a conversation with him. Can’t wait for more of Fr Pine’s writing.

It felt like Fr Pine went inside my brain and picked out all the things I’ve been caught up on. His writing is so easy to read it goes by fast, but what he says is so profound and beautiful I don’t know how he does those things at the same time.
