COOKER HOOD GREASE & CARBON FILTER

It works, but it's cheap for a reason
There comes a time when you need to change the filters in your cooker hood: it came for me when I was decorating the kitchen. It's a messy job made more complicated for me because I couldn't find the appropriate part for a cooker hood that, in truth, is a bit old. So I searched for a quick fix with a generic part and ended up buying this.It didn't cost much and was delivered quickly, which was good. Opening the package I initially mistook the carbon filter for packaging material, but worked it out in the end. It was easily cut to size, fitted easily, worked well. Job's a good 'un.Well, for now it is. These filters are cheap for a reason, and that's because they're not going to last a long time. It'll do as a quick fix for me for now, but I'll carry on looking for an alternative that will last for longer. That's why this review is four stars; it's good, but it won't carry on being good for a long time. For a quick fix when you can't find the right part I recommend it; for a longer time, you might want to carry on looking. Or buy two or three and change them regularly, of course, which might be a more cost-effective alternative.

My house is smoke free now!!
Truly excellent product*****I bought an air purifier because I am a smoker and was horrified at the cost of the replacement filters (£42.00) since the unit was £60.00, I decided to try this filter and it was amazing.Quick delivery, easy cut to size, I put the white sheet nearest the drawing fan and the black carbon on top, (I copied the filter which came with the unit) then put the cover back on. Cleaned the unit with bleach/water cloth. I have enough filter to change twice more. The air is fresh smelling, my curtains are no longer stained and it works a treat. I will stock up for future use. I change it every 3 months.I would definitely recommend this product. The replacement filters that the manufacturer recommends for the air purifier unit are a rip off. I wish I had have known this years ago! Also if you put a couple of tumble dryer sheets on first, then the white, then the black, you get a lovely fragrance as well!

Ok but not great.
It is easy enough to cut but given the total size and the size of the overhead cooker hood, there will be some left over that won't be big enough to fit it. Seems wasteful.I'd rather be able able to order it pre cut to the size so I know how many I'm getting and none is getting wasted.

Its sold as a Carbon/grease filter but performance is low low end.
I thought the quality of the grease trap layers was poor in comparison to some previous store bought grease/carbon filter, and I wasn't overly excited about the quality of the carbon filter layer either. On a low light usage like frying an egg this removes little to no smells it seems, quite disappointing but I already cut it to fit, so I guess returning it is a nono.Really not worth the money charged either.

Carbon filter good, not sure about the grease filter
Carbon filter seems like a normal filter and easy to cut to size. I didn’t study the photo properly and assumed the grease filter would be thin and have those grey or red indicator lines. But it’s a thick and fluffy piece of material. Never seen one like that. I only need the carbon filter for now as the existing grease filter is fine but think I may buy something else next time I need to replace it, I’m not confident the fluff will be as effective as something denser and thinner.
