I'm giving this item five stars even though it came damaged. I ordered this as a gift so it wasn't opened by the recipient within the return window, unfortunately. It was slightly warped and spins on the counter which feels unsafe. I contacted the seller hoping to exchange it, and after providing some information to them, they immediately issued a refund and gave me instructions on repairing the warp so we can still use it. It's a gorgeous cutting board and we are definitely going to try to repair it. It's so sturdy and looks lovely on the counter. I'm giving five stars for incredible customer service and would definitely buy from this seller again. They truly stand behind their products.

This is a beautiful, high quality chopping block! Has a really nice weight to it and after 4 months of use, has held up great! At first it had a very slight warp to it, but after a couple weeks of use, it leveled itself out and has been fine ever since. Seems like it will last a very long time!

I did so much research before buying this board, I was using bamboo boards before this, and I have gorgeous Japanese knives that I take very good care of, and then I discovered that had I not been honing my knives before and after using them, they would actually be dull by now because of the bamboo boards I was using with them!! I had no idea, so I researched for weeks and discovered that Teakwood was the best for my knives to protect them, and then I found out that Ziruma was actually the best manufacturer to buy my board from, and so I did, and once my board arrived I was so happy with it, but it doesn't end there, I was able to actually start a conversation with Ziruma via text message because being so new I had many question about what I could and could not do, they were so awesome, answering all of my questions, helping me step by step, even asking me to send them pictures of the board in my kitchen! They assisted me every single step of the way and they still do, I actually have them on speed dial, for text that is. You will not go wrong with this board, it is not only beautiful, but their customer service is outstanding.

I was excited by this product at first. It was beautiful out of the box. Unfortunately just 3 days later it has started warping and there are cracks on 3 sides. I haven't even washed it yet, just wiped with a damp paper towel. It is still usable for now but I am worried the damage will worsen and I cannot understand how it is damaged at all considering how little I've had a chance to use it so far.

Update: Ziruma gave me a full refund for the faulty boards and since I am not out any money I can't be too upset. A perfect 5 star review would be getting a non defective board in the first place so I believe 4 is fair here. Boos blocks have their fair share of quality control issues too and people report that the customer service is subpar. Ziruma offers a more affordable option and excellent customer service. If this company can get the quality control up to the same standard as the customer service then I would highly recommend. The XL board that I received that was in near perfect condition is currently one of my favorite things in our kitchen.Original: We purchased the XL version of this board and its almost perfect. After conditioning, it's beautiful to look at and luxurious to use. The beauty of end grain boards is that the cut marks barely show. You really have to get down at a low angle to even see them because when looking straight on they're basically invisible. If we had stopped at the XL board we'd be giving a 5 star review for sure. My wife wanted something a little smaller for ease of cleaning as the XL doesn't fit under the sink so we then purchased the Large board too. Well, the large one had some obvious glue separation at one of the seams and several indentations around the outer edge. We requested a replacement board and received a response the next day and 5 days later a much better looking replacement board arrived. However when I began to condition the replacement board with Howard's Brand cutting board oil, I could see the oil seeping in through a hairline of glue separation at one of the seams. For $140 after tax I would expect better quality work. I think about meat juice and liquid settling into those seams and harboring bacteria and those seams eventually getting worse over time. A big plus on the customer service but I really wanted a board that would last our lifetime and unfortunately this fell short not once but twice. Keep this in mind when purchasing as a gift for someone. Is it worth the gamble? Solid 3.5 stars for the first XL board being great and solid customer service but I would not purchase again.

Has held up well for 18 months. Got wet on two occasions and warped, but was able to straighten it out by evenly wetting it and placing it flat on the countertop to dry. No splits or cracks. Keep it oiled and waxed.

The board is not up to the quality I would have expected for the price. The sides and the channel are very rough and not finished. The seal is definitely not great. If I decide to keep this, I'll need to do some finishing sanding and reseal the board. The grains of the board are also crooked, so the lines cross at an angle when the design seems like it should clearly just run side to side.I got this in a bundle with the 17 x 11 x 1.5 and while the channel is still a little rough, overall the finish is much smoother and the cut of the grains isn't cut in a way that makes it look like a mistake. So, seems they can create a decent board, but the larger one I got was certainly disappointing.***EDIT 4/11***The seller reached out about the boards I received and sent two new ones, both of which did not have the defects of the first two. I'm now very happy with the product and with the seller's customer service!
