Sleeping Gods was a gift to fans. Five songs, showcasing the stylistic range of post-Isa Enslaved. Songs that blend the black, folk & psych to varying degrees, getting more "out there" as the EP goes on.Finally available as something more than an overpriced promo CD on eBay, originally FREE from Scion A/V, with the 2 tracks from the Thorn vinyl single to pad out a full length release. Even though not a recorded this year, strong contender for Best Spent Money On An Album 2016

ノルウェー出身ヴァイキング／ブラックメタル・バンドEnslavedが、2016年に出したコンピレーションアルバムです。彼らが2011年に出した2枚のEP「The Sleeping Gods」と「Thorn」を1枚にまとめたもので、1曲目～5曲目が「The Sleeping Gods」、6曲目と7曲目が「Thorn」からの曲になります。#2 "Alu Misyrki" はストレートでスラッシーな疾走曲。ヴォーカルもスクリームとクリーンを併用しているのですが、クリーンパートの摩訶不思議な歌メロと疾走スラッシュビートの取り合わせが似合いすぎてます。王道っぽいスタイルですが、彼らにしか作りえない世界観です。北の果ての海で四方を氷に閉ざされたような情景のアンビエントナンバー#3 "Synthesis"。Pink Floydとサイケデリック・トランスが合わさったような雰囲気です。#7 "Striker" は重厚なミドルテンポ曲。正直地味な曲なんですが、メロトロンによるバッキングが哀愁ありますね。中盤のフルートソロのバックで鳴ってる何でしょう…この不穏な、船が軋んでるみたいな音。時期としては「Axioma Ethica Odini」(2010年 11th) と「Riitiir」(2012年 12th) の間に当たるこの音源。長すぎず短すぎずちょうどいい分量。これらの曲はアルバムには入ってないので、ファンであれば持っておきたい1枚です。

This new record from Enslaved is really good there are black metal parts mixed with folky parts mixed with singing parts and everything in between there is also some atmospheric parts too. The only issue apparently it is an E.P but it is being sold at album price. That said it is really good. Well worth getting I think and so soon after their last album too
