Digitally remastered and expanded edition. Formed in 1969 as Silent Eruption, their members hailed from Ghana, Cura ao, Guyana, and Jamaica. Precious Wilson, who joined Eruption in 1974, would add an element to the band's sound that would take them to dizzying heights of success all over the world. While on the road in Germany, Eruption was discovered by the talent scout of producer Frank Farian who had just achieved his major inter-national breakthrough with Boney M and Eruption signed a contract with the German-based label Hansa. Eruption broke big in 1978 with a disco cover version of the Ann Peebles classic 'I Can't Stand The Rain' and their debut album Eruption Featuring Precious Wilson. Their second album, Leave A Light, was again produced by Rainer M. Ehrhardt with Frank Farian in a supervision role. The first single release was a cover of Caston & Majors' 'Leave A Light (I'll Keep A Light In My Window)' which became a minor hit in Germany. They followed with 'One Way Ticket,' which had been a huge hit in Japan for Neil Sedaka in 1960. The single returned Eruption to the top ten in the UK and all over Europe. Leave A Light continued the band's funky euro-disco sound and also featured a notable cover version: 'Valley Of The Dolls' is a phenomenal rendition of the Andre and Dory Previn-penned movie theme song from 1967 which was originally recorded by Dionne Warwick.

Equally Good as Their Debut
Eruption’s 1979 album LEAVE A LIGHT follows the template of their 1977 debut with some killer up-tempo Disco/R&B tunes to anchor the album (LEAVE A LIGHT, ONE WAY TICKET), light reggae (LEFT ME IN THE RAIN—though the liner notes misspell the title), a fresh take on a mellow classic (THEME FROM ‘VALLEY OF THE DOLLS’) and the male vocals taking center stage (UP AND AWAY).If you are unfamiliar with the group their sound is like a combination of the melodic Eurodisco sound of Boney M crossed with the slick harmonic grooves of the Village People fronted by Precious Wilson, whose voice bears a strong resemblance to the great Bonnie Pointer. If you liked their first album, you will find this one just as aurally pleasing. My favorites include the title track, the cover of VALLEY OF THE DOLLS and the most Boney M-sounding song: ONE WAY TICKET which cleverly references late 1950s songs in its lyrics (BYE BYE LOVE, HEARTBREAK HOTEL, LONESOME TOWN, LONELY TEARDROPS, A FOOL SUCH AS I) and really comes alive in the extended 12” version included here.

More Great Sounds
If like me, growing up in 1977/78, you might not have had much money so only bought singles. Then you will like me, may have thought that all there was to Eruption was I Can't Stand The Rain and One Way Ticket. Oh how wrong we were. This latest release by BBR and the previous, just valled Eruption, clearly shows the depth that their was to this late 70's disco band, and let's not be unkind in saying this, that is what they were. Initially in the shadow of Boney M they got the break with the release of their first studio album that prodduced the massive hit I Can't Stand The Rain. The labum continues on the same field. It nearly didn't. As is noted on the excellent sleve notes for the CD that has been included, the first single taken from the album, Leave A Light, basically flopped. This made Hansa re-think the strategy for the album and so One Way Ticket was released, and became a Europe wide monster hit. The album is littered with strong songs, and these have been mentioned well in other reviews here but I will mention the reaggae tune, Left me In The Rain which slightly reminds me of another song by Judy Boucher. This is a great album, and I am more than happy that it is available for the first time. Just a shame that Amazon's [acking, with a couple of other items I ordered at the same time, means I have a nice long crack in the jewel case but the hassle to replace it is too much and not worth it. Go buy this and take yourself back to the seventies and have some fun.

Eruption do it one more time!
Eruptions second album is a very strong album, just like the first album the beauty of the pop songs Hey there lonely girl, No good serching,Sweet side, and then we have soul/pop songs Up and away, Left me in the rain and the stunning ballads Fire is gone, Valley of the dolls.I only dont understand why bbr havent included the european album version of Leave a light running 8.40 instead of the Us-version 6.20 who was the maxi singel version in Europe. One way ticket the big epic pop song from the album is only included in the US 12 inch remix and not the European 12 inch long version running 5.20.But a strong well produced pop/soul album. I think that the titel track never should have been a singel only a album track, One way ticket should have been the first singel, and Runaway should have been the follow up singel instead i hope that Precious wilsons -On the race track album will be released next time on cd.
