Pin-Up: Good Girls and Bad Girls

The media could not be loaded.  This book is awesome. Extremely high quality and well made. So many fun facts and surprises inside. Stunning work! I absolutely LOVE how each side of the book flips to “good girls” on one side, and “bad girls” on the other. Admittedly, I didn’t fully read the product description and thought it would be more of a “history of the pinup”, but it’s actually just about a specific artist that does pinup art. Admittedly, I’ve actually never heard of her, but she’s extremely talented and I’m glad I purchased this book. It’s so beautiful that I’ll have to use it as a coffee table book to show it off. Love it!

The quality of this book is fantastic. Rather than a simple collection of Maly Siri's wonderful pinup girl art, it is a full fledged exploration of her creativity, inspiration, and vision. It gives insight into the pinup world and quite honestly, despite a fascination with pinup art that has lasted me a lifetime, gave me a few new perspectives to consider.The quality of the book itself is top notch and leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. It is beautiful and artful. It is a two sided book and within the pages are two different themes. One side of the book gives you a study on "good girl" pinups. The "Gil Elvgrinesque" girls - pretty & innocent but inadvertently giving a peek of stocking & garter due to some mishap. The opposite side, or what is actually the second book, focuses on the "bad girls". The girl who wields her beauty and sexual energy like a power and is comfortable being herself, unleashed by convention or societal norms. I have to admit this cover is my favorite of the two but not necessarily any better. I just prefer the design.I assure any other buyer that this book it well worth your time and you will enjoy the experience of reading it greatly.

Amazing! My favorite artist for sure. Wish her original art was not so expensive so I could have a painting in my home. This book sits right on my coffee table for guest to see. :)

Oh my gosh.. I am in love with this book. It's so big and gorgeous. Exceeded my expectations. Definitely my favorite book that I've ever bought.

It is a lovely book but I thought it came with post cards. So pretty disappointed about that. 😢

This book is full of amazing illustrations and artwork, the design is fantastic, it's a must for anyone who is interested in this genre of art.

Beautiful artwork

Not exactly what I was expecting - I thought this was a book that presented a variety of artists & pin-up images from the past. Instead it is actually devoted totally to the artwork of a single contemporary female artist: Maly Siri - who I have never heard of before! That fact notwithstanding - I found the book to be very enjoyable. The layout of the book is unique. - it is divided into 2 parts - one half devoted to, so-called ‘good girl’ art and the other half to the ‘femme fatale’ genre. At the mid point of the volume it flips its orientation 180 degrees so you turn it over and read it from the opposite side!The content of both sections focuses on pin-up style images of women arranged by fashion styles of the 1930’s to 1950’s and highlights some of the prominent female movie stars of each period. Many of the artworks are presented creatively as if they were posters, book covers, magazine illustrations, etc. from the relevant decade. There are also some illustrated little fiction stories written in the style of the period included. Ms Siri is a very talented artist who really captures the mood of the times & women that she obviously adores. Naturally - Bettie Page inspired many of the images, and there are some nice fetish oriented pictures in the ‘bad girls’ section. . I would think that any fans of pin-up art would enjoy this book.

This was a great finding, a nice book not just filled with stunning pinup photos, but also came along with stories that perderá matches the pin up illustration.
