Lovely, easy read and made me feel hope
I recommend this book to anyone needing an optimistic and a no-nonsense approach to writing for middle graders. Having read through, I feel I can achieve my dream of writing a good book of a publishable standard, and I like the homework at the end of each section.

Full of useful advice
Because the author is concentrating solely on writing for Middle Grade readers, you get moire comprehensive advice than books which cover writing for children of all ages. I found lots of useful advice here.

Nothing new.
It's terrible. No new ideas, just the same stuff you get browsing free websites. It is authentic though in terms of it has the same style as a below average high schooler.

Excellent and helpful advice
Very helpful for writers new to the middle grade market. The author does a great job showing the unique features of writing for this age group. She is an award-winning writer in this market and her advice is credible and proven.

Really cool one
I bought it using my wife's account but decided to come here and use her account to leave a comment. Sorry for my english, it is my 2nd language.I'm a published writer already, by publishers in different parts of the world (Penguin, Castelmore, etc) and in my native country of Brazil. Usually i am suspicious of "how to books". I actually hate most of them. So, when I bought this one I wasnt expecting to like so much, it is so clear and simple and direct and useful. It's not one of those "believe the universe" Tony Robbins-esque.Many things, as a middle grade writer myself, were concepts already known to me, but it is good to freshen up and be reminded what you are writing, the genre and rules around it. This is one of few books about writing - besides stephen king's on writing - i would actually have courage to say "read it, it is not full of bs".I liked it. Im going to search for other books by this author.

Great book for middle-grade authors
I’ve read numerous books on writing, but for an author of middle-reader books this is by far the best I’ve seen. For me, it covers exactly what I need to evaluate my writing. The material is presented in an organized and logical manner which enables one to easily assess and improve their storytelling. I highly recommend this book for anyone writing middle-grade books.P. This may be what you're looking for
This book has very little Middle Grade specific content. The rest is good, but it is a superficial treatment compared to other books that cover character, plot, building tension, point of view, etc.I have lots of craft of writing books and was hoping this would give greater information about MG specific things related to writing -- and basically only two chapters were MG focused.
