CISSP All-in-One Exam Guide

This is simply the most readable, engaging text that I have ever encountered. As many reviewers have noted, this is an amazing accomplishment. The authors make the material clear and relatable, and I found myself reexamining even the areas I knew well, simply because it wasn't a painful read, and I could appreciate another perspective. Unlike many exam prep books, I'll be keeping this one on my shelf for reference. Many thanks to those Amazon reviewers who steered me here!Do not neglect the included CD! It is not the throwaway coaster you usually get.It's got more than a 1600 practice questions and the essential .PDF of the book.Do note that the book is nearly five pounds, which should be expected as it is over 1300 pages.Among its many strengths, the chapter reviews stand out, providing an excellent check on how attentive you are, pointing out appropriate areas needing more study. This was extremely helpful in tightening up my final review. It's a voluminous tome that covers the complete CBK, but retention of new material can be a challenge for anyone. I watched the online videos from Pluralsight while I waited for Amazon to deliver the book. If you have ever read a long novel after watching its two hour Hollywood film adaptation, then you have some idea what I experienced going from CBTs to this text.In case you are interested, this is how I prepared for the exam and lessons learned. I've been working in various roles in corporate IT for about twenty-five years, which I thought should count for something, but the material in the CBK is so broad that I still found lots of material that was new to me. As I said, I did CBTs which were a nice intro to the material, but this book really turns up the volume. Each chapter covers an individual CBK domain in depth, and I approached the material by chapter, initially highlghting the text on the first pass, then restating the highlights into my own words in my notes on a second pass. After the second pass, I completed the review questions, and then reread the relevant section for any questions I had missed. This took weeks, but after finishing chapter 8, I reread my notes in detail and then followed up by doint the practice questions, again chapter by chapter. Having accumulated over 150 pages of notes, it was still a lot of material to cram before the exam. Unfortunately, I hardly slept the night before, which made for some brutal testing. If you have a good base of experience, and give yourself sufficient time to prepare, I don't think you can go wrong with this fine text.

This book is the end-all, be-all for written CISSP study guides. Penned by the late Shon Harris, this book is an incredible wealth of knowledge. I specifically recommend the 7th edition, as it contains all of the ancillary digital study aides on an included CD.If you are looking for a comprehensive reader chock-a-block full of information on all 8 domains then this is your guide. Should it be your only study tool? Absolutely not. Should it be your first stop? I think so.The Bottom Line: Shon Harris is a brilliant mind with an incredible eye towards information security. Do not hesitate to grab this book if you are looking to pass the CISSP certification exam.

You must own this book if you consider yourself a IT security professional. This book is a deep dive into the 8 security domains. The information is comprehensive and through. It is a dry read due to its in-depth examination of each concept. The book also jumps around with references. So if you like myself need to know more!! You will find yourself jumping back and forth between chapters. This book is very technical for a security guide. You will find yourself reading about how memory is processed and how this process can be exploited. You will also learn about CPU architecture and its exploits. How different OS designs access the system kernel. This technical side of security is something that I find is lacking in a lot of the younger security managers and engineers. They know they need to apply these settings because there is a CVE or IAVA/STIG notice but they don't understand why and how an attacker could utilize that specific exploit vector. The chapters tend to be very large 100+ pages each but each chapter is a domain! Which in my opinion makes it much easier for referencing specific concepts and ideas.

This book is the one to turn to for your CISSP exam. I run a training company that teaches 10 - 20 people in CISSP courses a month and these are the books that we always hand out with the course. The information is concise and to the point. Everything that you need to know for your CISSP exam is contained in these books. Couple this book with Eric Conrad's 11th hour Study guide, a subscription to CCCure, and the Study Notes and Resources Facebook group by Luke Ahmed and you will be golden. This is a very tough exam and requires many months of studying, but the end result is well worth it. Be sure to keep up with the CEUs though so that you do not have to take this beast of an exam again!

Huge but very comprehensive . I passed yesterday on my first try thanks to this book and the AIO Questions - 4th edition (well, and experience too)..I can say this is a very extensive book, but everything you need for the test is there plus more. Funny sometimes, it shows you all the 1s and 0s required to pass the test. It is still good for reference. if you have time, read it twice. Allow 3 days per domain (well Domain 4 took me a week due work, and other things). if you still can, read it one more time, try the test engine, and get the other book for questions. Give to yourself 3 months to clear all questions for those 2 books, and the material as minimum time . You will pass!!!.

This all in one guide is exactly what it describes. It's fairly long about 1212 pages but it covers everything you need to know. For those that don't speak computer it offers up a lot of examples that makes it easier to understand the concepts. This book has a lot of repetition, it will repeat certain information time and again throughout the book to show how everything is intertwined. I would recommend reading this book and finding another shorter and concise book to read over before your test.
