Pentair 38000-0007S Thermal Regulator with Spring Clip Replacement Pool and Spa Heater

Unfortunately the original valve failed after 26 months. It had corrosion and scale to the point where it would only open slightly and so the high temp sensor was cycling the gas on and off. Perhaps because it is a salt water pool. This is exactly what you would expect when ordering a genuine OEM part. I tested it in a glass of hot water and it worked perfectly.

This thermostat is a pentair brand not an as aftermarket part which was surprisingly good news for the price.

Had the same issue as other people.. Heater would turn on and start working fine for 2-3 minutes then it would just stop heating and the service light would come on.. then after 20 seconds or so it would start the heating process again and keep cycling like this even though it never showed any error codes on the display. I did notice there is another kit that costs about 20 bucks more.. save your money though... That kit just comes with the spring and plastic cover which you don't need unless your spring and cover are already damaged somehow... I just reused the same original spring and cover, just used the new thermal regulator and clip that comes in this order. Took about 10 minutes to replace... Worked like a charm right away.. no more cycling.

Easy installation. Homeowners can do this in an hour or less. Heater was "cycling" on and off before replacement. All normal after the new one went in.
