Yes, one of the slides has a picture of each planet.

Will this work with Moonlite story reels?

Those are custom discs. Moonlight seems smaller so most likely not.

are additional disks available with other suject matter

No. Learning Resources discontinued the add-on discs. That's why I returned it. Not enough use with only three discs and no more available.

Do the slides change automatically or is it a manual process to go from one picture to the next?

Manual comes with about 4 slides to change
