Beautiful metallic shades of blue, as hoped for. However, the rough pink seemingly-painted-over center splotch was not expected (I’ve seen many abalone shells) and detracts from the natural beauty of the shell. It makes me wonder if it was used and not new. I intend to use it attached to a fish net for a table decoration. Still debating to return it for another shot at receiving a more natural specimen. “giftable”….probably not…what I received was not expected. “craftsmanship”…. I thought there was no human involvement in the making of a “natural” abalone shell.

I have tried a couple times now to score a 6" abalone. I even went to the extent of a 2nd purchase of the $35.99 smudging kit, keep getting 5s. And here again 5". This one doesn't even have a decent bowl to hold sand. Its quite flat. Im returning and hoping by repurchasing again perhaps I can luck out. If the chances are 98% higher that one will obtain a 5 not a 6, I would change your site listing and people won't expect a 6, they'll expect a 5 and if they score a 6, well they'll feel extra special. Even in the site photo showing a person holding the shell and what you should expect for size, shows 5.7inch. Yeah, I was surely hoping so but not this 3rd time.

Looks used, burn marks... 😥 bottom is round so it does not stay in place just wobbles. Meh.

This shell is more of an art piece than anything else. Shallow enough as well to hold a smudge stick as I am so used to having to hold the stick in place as I cleanse and purify. Not so with this shell. I plan to buy another to keep to the side and also send as gifts.
