Pretty versatile
Bought this to do artisan breads. Works very well. I plan on using it for more things, but right now, its devoted for the breads. I think it’s a very good buy for the money.

Useful size, quality pot, if a bit rough
I picked this up to fill a hole in my dutch oven lineup between my 2 and 5 qt ovens, and I'm quite happy with the product. The casting is rougher than a Lodge brand dutch oven, but time and use will wear it down smooth. I also was happy to see that the screw on knob was cast iron as well and not plastic or other metal, which will greatly improve it's usability for me. I'd recommend several rounds of extra seasoning out of the box, but otherwise it seems like a great pot in a hard to find size niche, at a perfectly reasonable price.Update: the knob is actually some type of hard plastic, and I did notice that it started to deform by bubbling a bit around 375 degrees when I was seasoning the pot. I now just remove it when I need to reseason or cook at high temp

Very rough surface
I ordered this cast iron dutch oven for small loaves of bread as it is easier to handle than my 6 qt from another brand. This one is very rough inside. I didn't expect it to be a Lodge quality but it is much worst. It was hard to wash it before my first use. There is no way this pot could be used without baking paper. If you need a smooth surface, look elsewhere.Pros: great size for 2 person loaf, light, easy to handle, inexpensiveCons: not versatile: only for baking bread with parchment paper, rough surface, hard to wash

Durable, versatile, and deep
Large cast iron dutch oven. My mom always cooked with one until it was too heavy for her to lift and clean. This is home cooking to me. It is a large pot, so it is not something someone with arthritis could pick up easily, but I find I prefer more and more to cook in cast iron. The handles and lid make it easy to cover and lift. I wanted a larger pan for deep dishes and for larger family dinners, for making BBQ, and hopefully to cook either my turkey, ham, or the dressing this year. Cast iron is pretty easy to clean and re-season, does not scratch or break, and you can't beat the flavor. I also thought this would work if we cooked over a campfire or wanted to put in on the grill.
