Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection - Original UK Edition [DVD]

Great series and good DVD set. I did experience two dvd discs that had a bit of a snag in them and caused the play to pause for about 3 seconds and then skipped about 5-10 seconds of dialogue, but not bad enough to return the set. (This is only Seasons 1-6 and does not include the Finale which I understand is in a UK format and not playable on most US dvd players. Nevertheless, its a great series and very enjoyable to watch.)

I paid $80 for this collection of Downton Abbey and I still have to look at ads before every episode? Advertising is ubiquitous these days and now, you too can have the pleasure of viewing ads in your own collection of Downton Abbey episodes. I'm disgusted with the gall of today's advertisers. I would have given this collection 5 stars. With the ads, two stars.

I purchased this in DVD format prior and 80% of the DVD's would not play as they were badly scratched. I started watching well past the return window. This Blu-ray set arrived well packed. All the discs played well except disc 16, season 5. I had a hard time even getting Episode 8 to play and when it did, the scenes were out of order, some played the end and abruptly skipped to the beginning, some played the middle, end, then the beginning. Could not get episode 9 to play at all. There is another reviewer who had the same thing on the same disc happen. All the rest of the discs played well and Amazon is going to give me a full refund upon return of these.

Great but arrived in terrible smashed up packaging. Completely amazons fault for putting it in a bag instead of a box.

I saw this entire series streaming years ago and loved it. Last year I purchased the series in Blu-Ray and it was defective and I had to return it. I was shy about taking another chance on this, but plunged ahead. So far so good. And thanks to Amazon I have until the later part of January to fully watch the series and confirm that this is a keeper. Putting in random disks and spinning them up is not much of a test. Only in watching the entire series can you be ensured that all disks are recorded correctly and that the entire set is something you can enjoy for many many years.I'll add that the first season is not up to Blu-Ray high fidelity. But the 2nd season it is fully Blu-Ray quality. I suppose once the show was deemed a success the producers saw fit to invest in a higher quality product.

Watched this on prime and purchased because my future home will not have access to internet. I picked it up this morning and heard it make a rattling noise. The discs don’t APPEAR to be damaged but two of the three disc boxes are busted to pieces. This was either dropped or slammed down. Not a happy customer. Most everything I own is in storage and I have no way to check if the discs are damaged. Thanks Amazon

I love Downtown Abbey! Great video quality! I have seen it 4 times now since it was on TV. So happy to have the set so I can watch it again whenever I want to. Even my husband likes it and I couldn't get him to watch it before, lol!😊

I loved this series! I keep watching reruns and saving them in my cable queue but it was getting full. Now I can watch anytime.

Season 5, last disk with the final two episodes of the season are wonky. It skips all over the episode out of order with bad transitions, and the last episode (Christmas special) plays ads, then just flips goes back to the menu. Tried numerous ways to get it to play and it's just flat out missing completely.

When I received my order, it was missing one of the discs from Season 5. The replacement I was sent was poorly packaged so the outer box has quite a lot of damage. Other than these two issues, I am extremely pleased with this box-set. The discs appear to be in great condition (I tested several of them and they seemed to work perfectly). Overall, I highly recommend this product for anyone that loves Downton Abbey!

The interplay between life 'above stairs' and 'below stairs' alternating back and forth is so well done.Music and costumes were superb.Loved the whole thing. Worth purchasing as you will want to watch it over and again. A Classic!

Perfect condition upon arrival. The show is so fantastically made and I am forever a Sybil, Anna and John Bates fan.The Bluray version of this completed set plays well in my DVD player no skips and pauses.

In the reviews I read before buying this series, almost everyone said it was good and they viewed it in Canada. Therefore, I thought being a PBS edition and could be viewed in Canada that it would be good for me. WRONG! It will not play on my blu-ray here in Canada.
