My husband bought this book for me because I complained that I couldn't get my head around miters and copes. What we didn't know was that this book would help me get my head around every kind of finish carpentry necessary for my renovations, and a lot of basic carpentry as well. For a beginner working with wood, manufactured surfaces, tile, and drywall, this book gave me everything I needed to get started - including very useful tips for getting the most of my tools.I compare this to a similar book I bought that was published by Lowe's, or even to books not published by a major retailer, and none compare.I couldn't do what I do without the information in this book.

This book is required if you are attempting to cut molding for the first time or any compound angles really. There are a lot of ins and outs to doing a nice job. A few basic measuring tools , an angle finder is a huge help. I have been doing this for a long time but I bought this for a bit of a refresher and when someone has a question about cutting and or measuring it is a great show and tell tool. Amazon has good used books at great savings. If you are a weekend warrior or a pro having a small library with most of the basics will pay dividends down the road.
