Works perfectly
I was concerned that this might not work properly. I bought two different adapters so one I would be more likely to get one that worked. I figured I would just send back the defective one but to my surprise, they both worked fine. I have an Etymolic Research Ety Com headset that has a 2.5 mm plug. I used it with my telephones in the past but with newer cell phones that have 4 conductor 3.5 mm connectors, I needed an adapter. I have parts that I ordered to make my own adapter but was not sure how to combine the left and right audio output without damaging he telephone. I also did not know the pin-out and was not anxious to damage the headset or the phone. This adapter worked perfectly and I can now use my headset again. I like a wired headset much beter than the BlueTooth headsets for several reasons. The headset is lighter overall. The sound quality is better in my experience. There is no compression or expansion in the audio - just the same sound that's pretty much un-colored. There's also the advantage of not having to charge the headphones and the ability to use them immediately with any phone. You just have to plug it in. When you answer a call and realize you want to use the headset, you can plug it in between sentences and there's not waiting or playing with settings on the phone.

Works great with iphone 6s plus, with slight modification for Lifeproof Fre case
I purchased this so I could use my Panasonic headset with my iphone 6s plus. I'd been using this headset with my Panasonic wireless house phones, loved it, didn't want to give it up. So when we turned off our house phone to go totally celluar I looked for this adapter. I posted my question, got two positive answers and purchased. The female end headset fit perfectly. However, where the male end plugs into the port on my iphone, not so perfect, but it was the Lifeproof case that was causing the problem. (i took the case off, it plugged right in and great sound). The rubber part of the adapter was just a tad to wide to fit down into the port and make a connection. I was not about to give up my case (which has saved my phone from many, many bad things happening to it. So I VERY carefully used an exacto knife to trim the rubber back about 1/8th of an inch on the make side. SUCCESS!

Kind of revived my x41 turtle beach headet
I admit I was skeptical with all the different reviews but for the price I gave it a go. First off, my intentions were solely to get my old turtle beach x41 headset to work with my computer. For just sound the headset worked fine, but I really wanted the mic to work to avoid using a second microphone. Well I got this adaptor and plugged the 2.5 into the adaptor. Ran it to the microphone jack and no dice. I was pretty bummed, and tried it on a few computers to see if any would recognize the mic. None did. I'm not sure why and the internet has conflicting answers. However! When I used the adaptor in newer Xbox one controllers, everything worked really well. Although this was not my intention, both game and chat volume was coming through the headset, even without use of the home base. The audio probably wasn't as good but considering it never did that before who cares? So the purchase wasn't completely worthless. Out of curiosity I used a USB cable from my controller to my computer (the wireless adaptor works also) , then plugged in the headset. Set windows sound up to go through the Xbox controller and use the Xbox controller microphone (which I didn't even know I could do) and boom. It worked. Just used my controller kind of like an adaptor. However I question how well it was actually working, because I think it would depend what you were doing. Gaming with a controller? No problem. May need to tweak game chat settings a little. But it worked. Since I use a mouse and keyboard it wasn't ideal for me. But it WILL work with a controller perfectly. I'll be searching for my perfect solution a little longer. But I hope this helped some of you.

Works great! Received much nicer item than pictured!
Decided to get this to connect a new old stock Plantronics Gamecom Halo 2 Edition headset I found on eBay to my Hyperkin Duke controller for Xbox One to have the ultimate retro setup when I play online multiplayer in Halo 1 and 2 on Halo: The Master Chief Collection. (Also works on my standard wireless Xbox One controllers). To my surprise, the unit I received is actually much nicer than pictured. It's a really nice feeling braided cable section with an L jack on the 3.5mm male side, instead of the cheap looking unit that's pictured in the listing with the thin rubber wire and generic looking straight plug. Seems to work great so far, audio and mic work without a hitch. It's a little awkward having the L jack coming out of the adapter from the headset, but that's not a fault of the adapter maker and I usually don't notice it. Overall great buy, especially for the price!

Great adapter for XboxOne Controller using older headsets!!!
I purchased a Triton AX Pro Headset for Xbox360 many years ago and just started to play XboxOne again. Picked up the latest COD WWII and tried to use my headset. Go figure the new controller is a 3.5mm jack and the 360 controllers were 2.5. This rendered my pricey headset useless. After trying to use a 3.5 to 3.5 aux cable I was able to get sound but wasn't able to use the mic. I was pretty bummed at this point, but didn't let this stop me from finding a solution. I found this cable and gave it a try. With how cheap it was I didn't care if it didn't work. Well it DID! I was able to use the headset as I did back when I played Xbox360. A few friends confirmed there is no static, playback, echo or any distortion when using this. This $8 dollar cable saved my $180 headset from being useless. Highly recommend this adapter if you are in the same boat I was.

Incredibly Userful
Had one for about 5 years, which finally wore out (I really SHOULDN'T pull it out by the wires but hey... I do) after using it to convert my single headset between my phone and laptop. Finally bout this one and made sure it was the same brand. It, and the first, worked well; kept good sound; and stayed in each the phone and laptop. I now have a 2nd head set (yay) but still use this on the older headset and it works great, especially for the cost. A great value.
