Cisco Networking Essentials

This book is well written and a great resource for any who work or want to learn more about Networking.

I recently explored the Cisco Networking Essentials course, and it provides a solid foundation for anyone new to networking. The course covers the basics thoroughly, including essential networking concepts, protocols, and Cisco equipment. It’s well-structured and offers a clear introduction to networking principles, which is perfect if you’re starting from scratch.The practical exercises and real-world scenarios are particularly useful. They help in applying theoretical knowledge and give you a better understanding of how networking principles work in practice. If you’re aiming for a Cisco certification or just want to bolster your networking skills, this course is a good starting point.However, for those looking for advanced networking concepts or more in-depth material, this course might feel a bit basic. It’s designed to be accessible and introductory, so while it’s excellent for beginners, it may not delve deeply into more complex topics or provide extensive hands-on labs.

This is a great read for anyone looking to purchase, some of the technologies may have changed ,however the convenance of idea by the author makes this book a positive addition to a technophile

This is an excellent primer on the fundamentals of designing, managing, and maintaining a network. It starts with the basics of network topologies and moves on to more advanced topics such as applying the OSI model and Firewall installation. The chapter on Cisco IOS is especially handy, since it provides a quick reference for commonly used command props. I usually leave that chapter open when I use Packet Tracer (Cisco’s free software to virtually emulate their networking equipment). Although each chapter ends with a quiz, I wish there was more incorporation of information pertaining directly to the CCENT or CCNA certifications. If you purchase this book in preparation for a exam, I’d strongly recommend you also purchase a separate exam guide.

Great book, I compared the topic of this book with the Cisco requirements for CCENT certification exam and all topics are covered. Beyond the CCENT exam, this book is an excellent foundation to build on a career in networking.
