My sander lives again
Fit perfectly on my old Dewalt orbital sander. My sander isn't like new again, but it's ready to rock.

good replacement for our DWE6423
we bought this for our 6423 which frankly has been a rock solid machine but the foam (not the rubber gasket, just the foam) rotted out within the first couple years. It's flaky, dry, and fell apart. So, the plate was secure by screws but anything beneath it wasn't working. I did a quick search and found this...my searches look for cheapest with solid reviews. Solid doesn't mean 9 or 10, it means a good score (>4.2) with a thousand or more.So you can see the photos - old and new - what it's supposed to look like and what it looks like if you let it go for a couple years. The plate fit well. But keep the screws from the old plate as this one doesn't come with screws (nor do I believe it should as it's a replacement). It fit perfectly (don't lose the gasket). It's a 4 because it's solid and feels like it will last about the same amount of time yet the "stickiness" of the material to hold the sandpaper isn't as robust as we'd hope. We tried it a few times with a few types of sandpaper and it's held but we're not confident it will hold so durability MAY be a concern.

10 minute job
Took about 10 mins to install on a HF sander because you have to drill a slightly larger hole in another position for the HF spacing pattern. Just take your old HF pad off, align it with the new one (spin the new one so you're not drilling in the same location as the holes that are in the new one) and use the old pad as a guide. At the end you'll have 4 new holes (the ones you just drilled using the old pad as a template /guide) that fit your HF sander and 4 holes (wrong spaching for HF sanders_ that were already in the new pad. Tighten the screws and slap a disc on it. At first the disc won't be perfectly flat but after a few minutes of sanding on a scrap piece it'll flatten the pad out. Done.

Design flaw makes it useless
The pad grabs sanding discs very well, and it was a marked change from the original pad on which I had melted some of the surface. So I was initially pleased. But then I discovered a design flaw that makes this pretty useless. The center of the pad is a circular piece of plastic with a circular ridge on it. When you screw the pad down to the sander, that circular area is pushed out 1/64" or so compared to the rest of the pad. Does that make a difference? Yes. To test this, I used the sander on a piece of plywood that had a coat of white primer on it. As you can see from the picture of the sanding disc that I used, the only part of the sanding disc that made any contact with the plywood was that center circle (the only part of the disc that shows the white paint). So, this pad is useless.
